2. You would think that with us playing in the NC, that would generate some interest. When was the last time Tennessee was relevant to the NC picture? It's been awhile.

They haven't even won their conference since 1998.

Wow. Why did all of you sit here and tell us how sure you were of Ben coming to tOSU? That's just what gets me mad is everyone talking about how "they know" that he will be committing.

Don't get everyone's hopes up with something that isn't true.

How long have you followed recruiting? You should know that kids change their mind all the time. Some are also deceptive to coaches and reporters. So to predict with 100% accuracy is absolutely impossible. If you can't get a grip on that, then please don't follow recruiting.

I'll admit that I'm completely shocked... I had Martin as a part of this class for a long time... Probably the recruit that I was the most confident about... I don't get it myself... I guess we wait until tomorrow to see if it is indeed legit, then we try to regroup for the recruiting stretch run...

If this is what Ben wants, then so be it... Best of luck to him in Knoxville... I hope he enjoys the game on Monday...

ljb, i wasn't making a comment about the prediction... just providing the message that was a response to the post. and what crap am i dishing out? read my posts. no crap. like i stated anyway, nothing is official and i never made an indictment. did you notice that i stated that? there is little certainty in recruiting, which is what i've posted. mili asked who stated that, without doubt, martin is coming here, and i posted the message. that's it.

Ben didn't even grow up in Cincy... He didn't move to Ohio until like 9th grade...

Honestly though...I think just about everyone on this board hates Notre Dame, given the choice between only Notre Dame and Tennessee, who would you choose?

Let's just drop it and move on... We're all disappointed if this news holds up tomorrow... The BPRT was very confident in what we were hearing about Ben... As was almost everyone else... We just pass along what we hear, and if we feel strongly enough about things (like we did with Ben), then we will try to relay that... This time we (and our info) were wrong... It happens.

Honestly

Never saw this coming, especially Tennesee. Crazy January thus far. Pre Christmas we went from having Barksdale, Davis, Still, and Martin ear marked for this class to all of them going elsewhere.

That's why I couldn't stress enough about the 08 OL everyone believes that are locks. It's easy to negative recruit against a clear leader for over a year.

Oh well chalk one up to me being wrong, but believe me my source to this one is as close as you can get. Of course I haven't talked with him in a few weeks but still. He and I need to have a good talk in a couple of weeks to see what happened to the tail end of this recruiting cycle. Is it Monday yet?

osubucks, i never picked it up. i agree, let's move on. like i stated, nothing is official yet. also like i stated:

edit: it also surprises me that ben's coach would let the cat out of the bag a day before ben was to officially commit... so...

I certainly don't follow recruiting as much as most of the regulars on here, but my recruiting-related concern back in October was this staff would be so focused on THIS team winning the title THIS year that some of the recruits who perhaps need a little more attention would go elsewhere...and of course, that's where their focus should be.

I don't know if that's the case with Martin or not, but its obvious that OSU's staff is preparing for championship game, whereas UT's was preparing for an exhibition game this last month. Seems pretty obvious to me who can devote more time to persuade those undecided ones. Could that have had anything to do with this?

Also, can anyone explain what kind of contact is permitted right now? Is this a quiet or dead period? Seems like it would be a tad unfair if a school who finished its season five days ago could go ahead and make a big push towards a kid days before the Army All-Star game, while others are preparing like hell for a championship. I'm sure many of these kids playing in this game feel at least some pressure to make a decision for the cameras.

Anyways, thanks to all of you who provide good insight. IMO, this is THE site to read for anyone who wants to find out about future Buckeyes and what they're all about.

People , we all know that nothing in recruiting is a done deal until the recruit is signed on the dotted line. So get over it.
Just wish Ben good luck and concentrate on the ones who will become Buckeyes.
