Of course, as usual I have no inside info, but Ben seems to be confronted with a major decision. He can come to tOSU and join a rotation on a defense that for almost the last five years has been the unquestioned best in the business. If he is as good as you guys say he'll be a first rounder after his junior year even if he only starts for a year or two. The NFL is no stranger to OSU defensive players.

Ben's other option is to take almost guaranteed early playing time as a starter with a team that gave up 617 yards the last game they played. The ND program really does amaze me. I have never seen, or heard of anything that has lived off it's name and run on nothing but fumes longer than the ND football program. :osu:

Guys, in NO way am I saying OSU is out of it. All I am saying is that at this time it's not looking so good. Many of my most solid sources who were claiming OSU just a few weeks back are now saying ND. From what I hear...we have some bigtime work to do. That does NOT mean we are 100% out of it though. Let's hope the staff can do what they need to to make up some ground.

Well when I was told this, it was at camp so it may have been a bit off from the current situation. But for us to go from what I heard to lots of work to do is quite a difference.

It appears that Ben really fits the mold of not knowing for sure where he wants to go, and who can really blame him? He apparently is leaning one way and then favors another school. He has so many great options. I was told a couple of days ago that USC offered him and that Texas may be considering. Don't know all the schools on his offer sheet but my source is pretty reliable.

Talked to my source last night. Here is what I found out:

1) confirmed USC offer.
2) No news on Texas.
3) Ben talked to Connor Smith and told him that the only real regret he had was not taking all 5 visits. On that advice, Mr. Martin is taking his visits.
4) OSU is Ben's choice. ND is his mothers choice and the choice of an assistant coach at LaSalle who is an ND alumn. Head coach, Tom Grippa, favors OSU.


Ben still likes JT and is not overly in awe of Charlie Weiss or his personality.

My source says OSU is still at the top of the list with playing time and staying at DE a top priority. (ND wants Ben to move to LB...my source says JT told Ben he was DE all the way.)

...as always, take this for what its worth. If I were a betting man, though, I would go with OSU based on Ben's relationship with JT.

I have heard the exact same thing about Weiss. Appearantly, he is rather cocky. I just can't imagine Martin going anywhere but OSU after hearing this about Weiss from TWO top-100 players. I wonder how he treats other recruits that are not as well known.
