RoJo gives Michigan cold shoulder

Five-star CB's planned visit with Carr doesn't happen

By Jeremy Crabtree, Special to SI.com, From Rivals.com
NEW YORK (SI.com) -- The plan this week for the recruitment of five-star Muskegon (Mich.) defensive back Ronald Johnson was to meet with each of the head coaches from the five remaining schools on his list. He would then come to a final decision for his Sunday announcement at church. It's only Wednesday, but there have already been changes in that plan -- major changes.
Muskegon head coach Tony Annese confirmed with The Wolverine Wednesday morning that a planned visit to Muskegon High today from Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr did not happen.

With Michigan not visiting the school or Johnson's home today, the prospects of the Wolverines landing his commitment on Sunday do not look promising. That would then lead to Florida, Ohio State, USC and Michigan State as the potential front-runners.

RoJo's cold shoulder (due to "guidance") to Michigan could be like Alex Daniels' situation where his mother wanted him to leave Columbus. I have NO clue as to why people might be steering him away from his original 1st choice school...BUT, and this is a big but, it could be along those lines.

Regardless, I don't think there's a lot behind the scenes with Florida and RoJo like some think. I think they just want him...always have sort of deal.

Wad

Hey Wad, Where did everyone get that his mom is willing to relocate, that she possibly was offered a job, and that Tress was at his house the other night?? I've never seen any articles or anything stating that. I'm wondering how much this stuff is coming from posters. Just curious.

The fact that Ronald's mom was willing to relocate has been public knowledge for quite some time. As far as the rumors of his mom finding a job in Florida, there is no way to substantiate that at this point. That may very well just be Internet fodder and has never been reported as fact on BP. The JT in-home came directly from a source close to the situation who has been a trusted source for BP.

Doesn't most of the better info come from posters? Nobody is very interested in the common knowledge that appears in the newspapers but people actually pay subscription fees to get the info from posters...unless it was on SNG News

Rojo has a little brother committed to MSU. I would find it a bit surprising if Ms. Johnson uproots and moves wherever Ronald is, leaving his little brother behind-logic would dictate she wants to be near both her sons.....good vibe for tOSU or MSU if this is true

Holy cow the Michigan board is in meltdown mode, some of the crap they spew is so incredibly classless. I've seen the Florida fans deal with losing Xavier Carter, Keith Rivers, and Armando Allen, you guys deal with losing Ben Martin, but those Michigan fans take it to another level. I mean, I know there's always some frustration involved in losing a hometown "lock", but man those are some harsh words from the Michigan guys.

I believe it was the infamous cdiddy who first made the point that there is a far greater likelihood for the younger brother to eventually follow Ronald, not the other way around. I think that is a very valid point. Ronald's brother may be committed to MSU now but that could certainly change, especially is a school like UF starts talking about recruiting the younger Johnson as well.

Very true, although imagine missing out on roughly 12 of the top 15 kids you had on your board and you can at least sympathize with them...

Florida and Ohio almost have to lose some major in-state guys due to numbers...however, Michigan rarely produces such a batch of talent. Losing all of them has to hurt...

I'm enjoying it though

wasn't the original contention about rojo's brother that ttun wouldn't offer him because he wasn't that caliber of player, and msu only offered him early to get a foot in the door with rojo? granted this came from a ttun board, but I believe it was actually one of their mods that said it. it would be a tough sell for certain to uproot and move to florida with the status of little brother in limbo. of course, there is always ucf, usf, and miami.
