'07 FL S Major Wright (Florida signee)

Don't count out Florida just yet, some Gator insiders feel that Wright's public statements are all smoke and mirrors and that he may have already committed to UF.

Same thing they said about Rolle and Scott...

No, they never said anything about Rolle. All the insiders maintain that Rolle never was offered and none of them predicted Rolle would ever come to UF. As a matter of fact, he still doesn't have a Florida offer.

As for Scott, they were right actually. He did commit to Florida over the weekend of his official(Scott said it himself). Something changed in the 4 days before his official to UF and his announcement, the Gator insiders do disagree on the reason tho.

Believe what you want...

The Florida "insider" I spoke to believed Scott was headed to UF up until the day he committed to OSU and also believed Rolle was getting an offer the day after the NC game. So don't believe everything you read...the record of many "insiders" this year has been sub-par at best.

Back to Major...OSU still leads...Miami is still a threat based on Shannon and Hankerson.

this is starting to sound like the anthony davis situation to me... WE are leading but the hometown team is still lurking...

To quote BKB:

"Why don't we just wait this one out..."

We will all know more after his visit to Miami.

Hey, I'm certainly not holding that as the gospel, but I was just reading some comments about it being a Miami vs. OSU thing and wanted to say that you shouldn't count UF out just yet.

As for Scott, what you said do not contradict what I said. They believed he was headed to UF because he committed over the previous weekend. No one really knows what happened afterwards. Recruits change their minds, Wright could too, so you can't really hold the recruitniks over those types of situations. I'm sure you're already very well aware of that.

As for Rolle, I guess you admit that the UF insiders mostly thought Rolle didn't even have an UF offer?

Honestly, I don't think as highly about Wright as Scout does. I don't think he's a 5-star guy. I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever class UF ends with, as there are still plenty of talent left on our board

I think this conversation has run its course...no one knows what is really going through a kid's head, but one thing I know is that if a kid visits and does not leave with that school as his leader, that is typically not a good sign. Could he change his mind, as Scott supposedly did? It's possible. Could I win the lottery tomorrow. It's possible. Wright visited Florida and left there with OSU as his leader. That typically would not bode well for Florida. That is much more likely than the supposed "smoke and mirrors"...

In the future, let's leave the info from "insiders" off the boards unless it is from a free board and there is a link available. Anything other than that is considered premium info.

We'll all know more after his Miami visit...

Following his Florida visit this weekend, Major says tOSU still leads but he will still visit ND and Miami.

I'd refer back to that post and Duane's old saying that if you're not the leader or tied for the lead after your official visit, then your chances are slim or none. If it's smoke and mirrors Major is playing, we've seen it already this year in OSU recruiting (see J.Barksdale, A.Davis, B.Martin). However, I don't think Florida's gonna be the choice here. I'm more worried about Miami.

Miami Herald

College football's national signing day is less than a month away, and Florida, which dominated Ohio State in the national championship game, appears to be closing the gap on Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas safety Major Wright, who has listed Ohio State as his top school since last summer

Said Larry Blustein, a national recruiting analyst for MSL Sports: ``If Florida gets Major Wright, then they'll be killing it for a long time. He can come in and start for four years.''
Wright, a 6-1, 200-pound blue-chip defender, visited Gainesville last weekend and experienced the excitement of the Gators' national championship at its climax. This weekend, he will visit Notre Dame, which already has received oral commitments from some of South Florida's top high school seniors.
