my bad, he's 15-soph...but still amazing
He's a 5-8, 165-pound running back for North Fort Myers (Fla.) High School, and his statistics are out of this world.
Just how good is Devine? In his worst game this season he was limited to 106 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 63-7 win over Estero.
But then those 106 yards came on just four totes. He scored his third TD of the game on an 83-yard kickoff return.
In a 42-22 win over Riverdale, he rushed for 365 yards and six touchdowns on only nine carries.
Devine rushed for 1,000 yards as a freshman and should surpass the 1,000 yard mark this weekend. He's carried 42 times for 874 yards in four games. That averages out to 20.8 yards per carry.
A highlight video of Devine surfaced on the floridakids.net Web site, placed there by Derek Williams of sunshinepreps.net. Williams told the News-Press of Fort Myers that 20,000 people downloaded the video, which includes an 80-yard screen pass run for a touchdown by Devine. He broke nine tackles on the way to the goal line.
"This kid's unreal," Williams told the News-Press. Williams called North Fort Myers coach James Iandoli, wondering why Devine's name wasn't included with a list of other Red Knights upcoming seniors.
"When he told me he was only going to be a sophomore, I about fell out of my chair," Williams told the News-Press.
