'07 DC WR Arrelious Benn (Illinois signee)

I have heard some rumblings that Illinois might actually have a fighting chance. Maybe it is just some wishful thinking form their fans, but has anyone heard anything.

I know at one time he was basically a lock for Notre Dame, but thought maybe the Illini had a little shot at him.

There was a guy who claims to be close to the Illinois program posting that Benn is indeed interested in them, and that Wilson is down to OSU and Illinois.

How much of this is true...i'm not so sure.

Let me start out by saying it is great to be here. I am an Illini fan but follow all Big Ten schools. I am not an over zealous Illini fan that bashes other universities though. It has been very tough for the past few years to follow my Illini but I see the program turning. I cheer loudly and proudly for all Big Ten schools when they play in bowl games, including Iowa. This is what we are hearing in Champaign about Benn. According to reports heard on the radio with reporters from Champaign and in Maryland, the Illini have a slightly better chance than 50-50 with Benn. I can not remember the reporters name from Maryland but he said that if Benn was not an Illini it would surprise him and if it was not the Illini then it would be the Irish. I know OSU has offered but come on, can't you afford to let the Illini have this one? Best of luck with the rest of the season, except when you play in Champaign.

Welcome BigTenFan... I don't think we are seriously pursuing Benn anymore. I've heard that Illinois is in great shape with him as well... But I also hear from other people that ND is a big fav... I guess we'll see how it all shakes out...

Per a ND insider...they are not feeling so great about Benn anymore. Illinois and FSU are coming on very strong, and social concerns at ND seem to be coming into play with Benn.
