'07 Bucks to mirror '02 Bucks?

Cornerback6

Optimism Lover
We have won an NC with a stellar defense and average offense before. Not saying that our O will be average for sure next year, but it should be AT LEAST that.

Look at the amazing similarities between the two teams and tell me we don't have a shot again next year. If we finish this year with an NC and get a top 5 ranking next season...I think that's fair.

MoC = Beanie
Krenzel = Mistake-freetype Boeckman
Gonzo or Robiskie = Jenkins
Line = Line

D = D

I could go much further in depth, but this was just an idea that crossed my mind when thinking about how strong our D will be next year and how our O will be looking to establish an identity early on.

Next years line will in no way NO HOW be nearly as amazing as '02's line was.

And don't get me started on comparing Krenzel to Boeckman/Schoenhoft/Henton.

With Boone & Barton at the tackle spots...you have to be kidding. Our center & guards might not match up, but our tackles next year will be insane.

Krenzel was never a great QB, he was a great decision maker and leader. Who's to say Boeckman can't step in and do the same? He has been in the system 3 years now. You never know. I think his stats could easily be comparable to Krenzel's though, considering his weren't all that gaudy. All we need at QB is a good leader. A field general who doesn't make mistakes. I think these two teams could be extremely similar when it's all said and done.

Actually, I think the '02 line wasn't that great despite all those who got drafted. And I don't think you know enough about Boeckman to not compare him to Krenzel...going into the '02 season, no one knew Krenzel how Krenzel would turn out.

I think he meant DLine

The QBs next year will push each other to be the best.
Who knows who will be under center in November!

Defensive tackle may be much more problematic!
We will need someone to step up and be at least solid and dependable.

Lots of road games next year will test this team!

Indeed I was talking about D-Line.

Our O-line will be better than '02's line.

And about the Krenzel-Boeckman comparisons...

Krenzel beat Michigan in his first start. Boeckman has yet to have a start. A comparison is laughable at this point.

We are loaded everywhere next year except for QB (that is to be determined) and defensive tackle.

I still think safety is up in the air...

Yes the light went on for JamO and Russell has shown to be very effective, but how will he come back from injury, and will either of them be able to be like the qb of the defense, much like BMitch has been this year.

Also do we have 3 corners to man a good nickel package like we did this year. Washington while very solid struggled in the scUM game and the jury is still out on Underwood/Amos/Coleman, I do think that Coleman and Amos will end up being very good, but they just havent showed it on the field next year. I wouldnt be suprised to see a little more of a 4-3 formation next year to get less dbs on the field and more lbs.

I do agree that Boeckman could equal Krenzel. He has the WR's, Line, and RB's to help him grown up quickly as well. In Boeckman's limited time in games and spring games he has shown to be more consistent than Robbie. Also if Henton could somehow win the job that to me would just tell me how good he is.

I also love the potential of our d-line(not extremely deep), but with Gholston/Wilson/Rose and then Barrow/Denlinger/Worthington you have 6 guys to man 4 spots And really all of them could move and play any of the 4 spots besides maybe Denlinger playing strictly inside. Also most reports have Larimore being a future stud and the jury is still out on Nader and Williams. Not sure how much incoming freshmen would make an impact, but Barksdale has the size to compete early and Martin has the ability to be a rush end early. That is as long as those two committ, like most have them pegged to.

While Krenzel beat scUM in his first start, I think we can all credit John Navarre for that win. "John , I'm open, throw me the ball. Don't worry that I'm not wearing blue, it just looks that way "

I know I'll probably get flamed for this... but, given the situation at DT and the great depth we have at LB, does anyone think we'll experiment with a 3-4 base?
JT has shown to be versatile in offensive scheming, but how married are Heacock and Fickell to the 4-3?

Just askin'...

...and Bollman could not coach OLine in 2002 like he could in 2006.

In all seriousness the 2007 line will be a lot more athletic and versatile then the 2002 line. It is just a product of the OLiners that JT etal recruit now.
