'06 VA WR/CB Damon McDaniel (Florida State signee; transfer to Hampton)

normally i really like to keep these threads about the recruit, but since we are talking about FSU and I just graduated from there I'd love to elaborate

Jeff Bowden is one of the worst offensive coordiantors in college football, and there isn't one reason he should be the OC at FSU...Bobby has put his son before the program and its suffered the last several years for it...if JB wasn't the OC, FSU would be the same program it was 6-7 years ago b/c the ACC still can't hold FSU's jockstrap when it comes to talent....that has decreased since Va Tech and Miami joined but still...FSU lost to a mediocre NC State, Clemson, and Virginia teams....if you are an offensive player FSU IS NOT THE PLACE TO BE....it's really that simple....FSU had a terrible, banged up O-line this year so we used 5 and 4 wideout sets to counter that...we're down to 3rd dtring tackles and JB decides 5 wideout sets will help our tackles....i dont get it, i dont think many people do...by the way our wideouts run the same routes every other play..Chris Davis runs the drag, greg carr runs the post/jump ball down the field, decody fagg runs slants and posts....im not joking, thats what they do....If Damon doesnt go to OSU I obvisouly hope he ends up at FSU but our offensive players are just wasted their, and it sucks...JB lost hundreds of thousands for Leon Washington, if not millions with the play calling this year........ahhhhh I can't stand it......sorry for my rant

billmac91, great post. Still no new info on Damon. His recruitment has been very tight lipped since the decommit from UF. I guess Larry Grant just verballed to us, so gimme Damon on Signing Day and I will be extremely happy with this class, not that I'm not already!

Frankly, I think that the real problem is quarterback. FSU hasnt had a decent QB since Chris Weinke. The best OC with the best of schemes is going to look like an idiot if the QB makes the wrong reads and shows poor decision making and execution.

to try and create more smoke:

Duane Long indicated that osu spoke to mcdaniel until the last possible moment before the quiet period.

The next day it was reported that DJ was told that there was no more room in this class.

While I think he is FSU all day, there's no harm in rattling the cage a little bit.

i am going to change my opinion and be an optimist on this one. i think Damon pulls a signing day shocker and commits to the best football program in the nation, tOSU of course. I am basing this on:

1. The decision to visit OSU first after the decommit.
2. The info Derrell Johnson was given the day after the staff allegedly talked to Damon.
3. The WR commits FSU received this week after Damon visited, maybe FSU has prior knowledge to his decision and offered the next best receivers on their board.
4. What a perfect way to end this wonderful class.

Of course this is just pure speculation and at 3 tommorow I may be eating a big plate of crow, but I sure hope Damon decides to come to C-Bus.

I have to believe that one of either McDaniel or Matthews is coming here tomorrow. It just doesn't make any sense for the staff to say Darrell was "a victim of the numbers game" when we still had three spots open (2 now with Grant). Even if Peters comes here, that still left one spot open.

Maybe i'm looking way too much into this though, because my gut still is telling me Damon to FSU and Greg to Michigan.
