'06 VA WR/CB Damon McDaniel (Florida State signee; transfer to Hampton)

I knew that the thread was locked and seemed a little fishy. Just thought it was interesting nontheless, so I posted it. This seems to be a very odd recruitment with McDaniel. He holds a press conference with Harvin, then doesn't announce he is taking visits to OSU and just kind of shows up, doesn't return the coaches from UF phone calls, and now nobody seems to have any inside info on where he may be leaning. I would just have to say it's all speculation for right now.

2 ways of looking at this:

1. visited osu in secret. denied doing so. osu subsequently loses chichester to grades and informs johnson there is no more room left in this class. i don't know the kid's personality, but if he was looking to make a big surprise announcement that would shock some folks, picking osu on signing day would certainly achieve that. couple that will fsu getting 2 wr commits this past weekend, and there is at least something to attach some hope to.

2. everyone around is calling him to fsu. there has really been no smoke blowing in osu's direction and no osu insiders have any info that would give any reason to be optimistic.

i would have to say i'm in the category of #2.

I think there is reason to be optimistic on this one. There was a reason why he visited us secretly.

I am going to say I am in group 1.

rumor was that we were getting a visit from a 5* recruit who was a lock for tOSU. That's what I read few weeks ago and that's when I started reading more things about McDaniel. I don't know about 5* or a lock for tOSU...but recent events make me think that we have a pretty good shot of landing him.

there was a rumor about a 5*, but he was not a lock to OSU. The info nevada got was erroneous, as Harvin was rumored to be visiting. Then it turned out that 4* McDaniel visited instead. They were from the same prep school.

JT closing vs Bowden would be quite a coup, tho I'm with cb40 on this one.
