'06 TX QB Sean Hakes (Akron signee; transfer to Orange Coast CC)

Thanks for the update Shakes. We were all concerned about Sean as a person regardless of whether or not he lands here as a buckeye (which most of us are hoping). I'm sure he'll be able to fight his way back into shape. And if he is unable to regain the physical shape he might like by this summer, if he illustrates his apparent talent I'm sure the coaches will overlook his temporary physical woes like they did with Hartline (WR, the QB's bro) last year.

It was really disappointing to him to have this happen right as he was just getting into the swing of the offseason program. He was also disappointed to lose alot of the weight he put on already in offseason, but I assured him it won't take long to put it right back on.
I am sure most of what he lost is water weight, he will put that back on in no time.
I wish him a continued good recovery.
GO BUCKS!!

Update

Hey Guys,
Sean has been out of the hospital for a week now and today was his first day back to offseason practices. I am actually down in TX for spring break so I have been hanging out with him and he's definitely lost some weight- 12lbs.- he was on an I.V. and didnt eat for about 5 days. He should get most of it back before the Nike camp. He has a sort of tenative schedule that looks something like this...

Ann Arbor Elite 11 regional- May 6th
Ann Arbor Nike Camp- May 7th & 8th
Univ. of Texas- June 5th
Alabama Mini Camp- June 11th
Michigan Camp- June 19th
Ohio State Senior Camp- June 24th or 25th

It's not all "set in stone" but we'll see. He is really excited for the camps because that's his opportunity to put his skills up against the rest of the top QB's. Should be really exciting to see how everything pans out... I've been following the recruiting world for a few years and it's really neat to watch first hand. I also like knowing the inside info... and then sharing it with ya'll. I'll keep you guys updated and if anyone has Q's feel free to ask.

Yes

Sean has been recieving alot more attention and has been recently contacted by... Florida, Illinois, Arkansas, LSU, NC State, Nebraska, Colorado, Alabama, Michigan State, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Texas and Miami. Mostly asking for film and inviting for spring practices and games. Michigan, since I've been home for spring break, has sent 3 generic letters and 2 hand written letters to Sean from Scott Loeffler. He really likes Sean and has told him he is going to be "a great college QB" and after he sees Sean throw in person again, Lloyd Carr said that Loeffler will be allowed to offer. He has written about 4 letters explaining how he can't wait to see him throw again, so I'm thinking that he's trying to hint at something. Loeffler told Sean that they have offered 2 QB's and that they will offer 5 and hope to get 1, and if they don't they offer the next 5. Sean has already told me that if he's not in the 1st 5 that he won't go there. So we'll see how it goes, not that that should excite you guys. But you never know it could spark the Buckeyes to step it up and pay more attention to Sean and put themselves right up there but who knows. Sean has been in some contact and he will go up there for a spring game in April and meet the coaches for the first time. It should be exciting and I will probably join him, seeing as my school is about an hour away. My dad has also been in contact with the QB coach Daniels and we'll see where he stands with them on the visit and it will probably be until the camps or the spring evaluation period until we can really tell where the Buckeyes stand. I don't think things are going to get really interesting until after the camps. That's when things are going to heat up big time. O BTW not that it matters but after evaluating Sean's film Emfinger moved Sean to Athletic QB and he is now a 5 star recruit. I thought that was kinda neat He had made comments to Sean like "If you can do that in a game I'll put you at 5 stars" Sean was giving Max crap for putting him at 4 stars cause Sean has thrown with all those guys and he really feels he's second to nobody as an all around QB. But once again what happens after the camps will tell us just about everything about these players talents and where they stack up against each other.

Sean's Trip To UT

Well guys Sean visited the university of Texas yesterday for their spring game. He took a taour of the facilities and all that stuff. He and Matthew Stafford were the only two QB's there. Sean was most impressed by the beautiful women there. jk... but seriously. He really liked the recruiting coordinator, their QB coach had a dry personality and was very difficult to read but he will coming up to see Sean for spring practices. He is now seen 2 top tier football programs and is now getting ready for his visit to tOSU on the 14th of April. So not this weekend but the one after that. My family should be back in Fort Worth soon and hopefully I will get some pictures of Sean at UT to post. Well thats the latest. Excited for the 14th to see how it compares.
