'06 TX QB Sean Hakes (Akron signee; transfer to Orange Coast CC)

Shakes:
Well guys Sean visited the university of Texas yesterday for their spring game. He took a taour of the facilities and all that stuff. He and Matthew Stafford were the only two QB's there. Sean was most impressed by the beautiful women there. jk... but seriously. He really liked the recruiting coordinator, their QB coach had a dry personality and was very difficult to read but he will coming up to see Sean for spring practices. He is now seen 2 top tier football programs and is now getting ready for his visit to tOSU on the 14th of April. So not this weekend but the one after that. My family should be back in Fort Worth soon and hopefully I will get some pictures of Sean at UT to post. Well thats the latest. Excited for the 14th to see how it compares
.

Shakes,
Thank you for keeping us up to date on Sean's recruitment...

We all know he has family in Ohio. He is aware of OSU's quarterback situation and says he is not afraid of competition.
Hakes is awaiting offers. He lists Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, Purdue, Notre Dame and Miami (Ohio). He will attend the Elite 11 tryouts May 6 in Ann Arbor and the Nike Camp at Michigan May 7. He also plans summer camp stops at Notre Dame, Ohio State, Illinois, N.C. State and Louisville. He may also camp at Texas and Purdue.

Visit w/ Joe Daniels

Well... Today Sean went with my parents and I to tOSU. Coach Daniels met with us for about 2 hours on an off day for them and gave us a tour (Woody Hayes Center, The Shoe). He was very personable and spoke about not knowing if they were even going to take a QB due to the #'s in other positions, but thought that he would prefer to pick one up. He expressed to us that he really wanted Sean up at caamp aand even if he couldn't make it to the 2 scheduled one day camps that if he would just make it up for one day during one of the 2 three day camps, that if he came to one of those he would just work with him most of the time, which was nice. Very good trip... the spring game is tomorrow and he'll be there for that. Sean really enjoyed it and liked coach Daniels alot.

Very cool, though the part about not taking a QB is interesting. I guess with Boeckman maturing and already having Schoenhoft, it is purely a numbers game. However, with the number of quality QB's looking at us (Sean especially), it woul dbe hard to pass them all over.

Anyways, did you guys take any photos that you could post over here?

Coach Daniels told Sean that he would let us know in the next 2 weeks if they are gonna take a QB in this class... so that will be interesting to see what direction they go in. I brought my camera to The Shoe and left it in the car so I dont have any pics except ones with my family at my grandparents house in Hilliard... so basically I dropped the ball on that one, my bad. Daniels said he would prefer to take one this year though so IMO i think they will but we'll see. Sean had a good time and is just starting to get into the whole process.

P.S. Sean has put most the weight he lost back on and He seems to be throwing the ball harder then ever, he threw the ball with me and a few of my friends at Ohio U.

New Pictures

Sean had an off day at the Elite 11 camp but at the Nike he performed up to his potential. Problem is that before he even had a chance to throw he was placed in group 2 and not one person was moved between any of the groups. So he was a little upset because he felt he performed as good as any QB out there at the Nike Camp, but because he had one off day, where he was in and out of the top group, he got stuck in group 2. But hey he's moving on and looking forward to the team camps where he can work with the coaches.

Well his hair is starting to grow out well, you should let your bro know that it seems to be an unofficial requirement of all players to grow out their hair a bunch :) (AJ, Mangold, Pitcock - tho cut now, Holmes, Carpenter, etc.)

Shakes,

If offered by Ohio State, do you think Sean would favor the Buckeyes or have early interest, other factors, etc put us behind/even with others?

If you can't really comment on this, I understand...just thought I'd ask :wink2: .

Well

Ya know Sean has grown up dreaming of playing for the Bucks, ever since our buddy Kirk was on the team. Which by the way if Coop was still there I wouldnt let my brother go to OSU, oh how I hated the days when you get your hopes up and they get crushed by Michigan every year. SOrry about the side note, but yea Sean would definitely have OSU right up there, it would also be a perk to be that close to his family (intermediate family's in TX But the rest is in Columbus, and I'm in Athens, OH). SO we'll see how it goes.

All aboard Sean!

just watched the video...pretty impressive and thanks SHakes. Anyone else hoping scUM screwed themselves by putting him in group 2? If like I read before, if he was not in their first 5 offers (WTF?!?, 5 QB's?!?) then he would not go there, i hope for OSU's sake he comes in #6! :wink2: For real though, I might be way off my rocker, but I have used other girls to sway the one I really wanted...it can be a chess game, which I hope is what's happening here. I realize scUM has a history of QB's but we have more than that going for us right now and above all else, this is the freakin' wolverweasels we are talking about!!! (the 4th smelliest mammal found in North America BTW) Here's hoping 1)Sean camps well at OSU and outshines enough QB's to get the offer, and 2) our coaches don't let this guy get away. Go Bucks, M Go Blow
