Aaron Brown update
Well, what can I say but what was told to me. "If Auburn was a 10 then Notre Dame is a 10 and a half." Of course, ND short of having Aaron speak to all of their distinguished alum, is pulling out all the stops. The treatment from the staff, facilities, accomodations, service and everyone has been superlative and first rate. George loves the staff and apparently the staff is giving the Browns much love. The Browns are impressed with the family atmosphere at ND and like the way Weis does things. Aaron has been told that he would have the opportuity to contribute significantly and early. ND is not a hard sell. Anyone who is objective knows the totality of what ND can mean after you stop playing ball. This isn't lost on the Browns. This is one of the situations that really make the recruiting process fun. It's nice to feel appreciated, and as a parent it's nice to be in a situation where you have people assuring you that your child will be appreciated, and that their future is secure. Tommorrow brunch, touring the campus, and a little pow wow with Weis and co. Still lurking, visits to Purdue then Va Tech. Now Buckeye faithful, before you start losing hope or start making comments about being indifferent to where Aaron chooses to go, listen to this...
Eventhough the ND visit thus far has been outstanding, there are some things that can't be diminished and are important in Aaron's decision making process. The lack of minorities within the student population is of concern. How comfortable will he feel in such an homogenous environment. It's not a knock on ND, just the way it is. Once the euphoria wears off, how whould Aaron's day to day life be on a campus that is so different culturally than what he is accustomed to?
The hold card for tOSU is that Aaron and his family are Buckeyes at heart. It still up to the OSU staff not to take that for granted. We all know how great tOSU is. It's still up to JT and co. to continue to impress upon Aaron and his family of that fact and that his potential contribution to this program would be no less than what these other fine institutions are offering. With two visits left it's by no means a done deal. I'll continue to keep you guys posted.
