Per a post on BN from HH, it is not grades...it is a numbers game...as in too many people and not enough 'ships to give.

If so, there could be a couple surprises in the next couple days.

I have us with 2 ships left to give, but I count both Pretorius (the likely starter next year) and Pettrey (supposed to be a scholarship player as of this month) as scholarship players. If that's true, then I see us getting L.Grant and one more TBA... which apparently Tressel feels pretty confident about if he's not going to offer DJ based on numbers...
Pretorius is already on a full scholarship and has been since September 2005.
Pretorius was said to be on scholarship by JT during the press conference. Said that they didn't do much kicker looking because they already have him on scholarship for 3 more years and Petrey for 4 years. My ears arn't great, but i'm fairly certain thats what he said. At the very least they are both on 'ships next year for sure.
I don't know for a fact, but I think that R.J. Coleman is still on scholarship despite not being able to play because of his injury. Anyone confirm or deny this?MililaniBuckeye said:Thanks. Well, that puts a whole new face on our available ships...counting Pret and Pet we have only two ships left instead of four.
Thanks, Oh8ch. I had been wondering about him ever since they announced his injury before the season. Darn shame.Oh8ch said:That is true about Coleman. However, there is a provision for a medical waiver that allows OSU to give him the schollie and not have it count against the 85 max. That is what has happened with RJ.

Are you sure? Our scholarship chart didn't show him with one. We only had Huston and Trapasso as kickers with schollies.
