Tucker’s case is a bit more complicated. He originally said he had an offer from Ohio State, where some of his AAU teammates, including national player of the year Greg Oden, have committed to. But, according to West Side coach John Boyd, the Buckeyes have not offered a scholarship to Tucker, a 6-9 senior-to-be who can play a variety of positions.
Boyd and Tucker said the latter’s No. 1 choice is still Ohio State, and that he hopes to choose a school by the end of this month. But a relative of Tucker’s on Sunday said she doesn’t want him to make any decision until he has a high school diploma, adding he “needs to concentrate on getting out of high school.” Regardless, Tucker still has a variety of options, perhaps including Purdue, Indiana, USC or Miami.
