Doesn't he attend the same HS as Mark Johnson? Maybe that could explain the sudden interest...

As already said, Tom Luginbill said on the College Football Coach's Show (or something like that) on ESPNU that Stafon was very high on tOSU. He mentioned that he believed that USC was the leader, but that tOSU had a very legit shot at him. Whether we get him or not, I thought it to be very interesting that a national media guy stated that in a recent interview he did with the kid, that tOSU was very high on his list. That would be a hughe coup for the Bucks if we can get Mark and Stafon Johnson (any relation?).
I thought USC failed to bring in a RB for 2 straight years? Obviously they had studs before that, and any 06 recruit will battle it out with other 06 blue chip recruits... but is the depth that scary at USC to play RB?
Sometimes, a coach will ask a "committed" player to keep his commitment private so as not to scare off other recruits; for example, when Chris Wells publically committed to OSU in February, most every other top RB immediately dropped the Bucks from consideration - if Wells had remained "silent", then maybe the staff could have lured another RB to OSU before Chris "went public" with his commitment. This practice is borderline unethical, but it does goes on all the time, even at Ohio State.I dont believe in "silent verbals." In my opinion I think it is the same thing as saying, well USC is the team to beat.
What is the point of a silent verbal, in most cases if they were 100% sure it would be a well known verbal, a silent verbal does leave the door open for his mind to change, just like saying that USC is the team to beat.
