'05 VA RB Darrieus Ramsey

His shuttle was a 4.20 (he did high 3's in the back yard on grass) and he had a 9 plus foot standing broad jump...His bench reps were 7 at 185lbs... he could definitely improve there. But at 16 I'm a little reluctant to have him burn out too young.... he won't be 17 until late Aug... I'll let the camp coaches decide how to best approach this at his age...

I completely agree that he should be around that range for his reps, but at only 16 years old he has plenty of time to hit the weightroom. Plus I would say his 4.34 speed makes up for those 5 extra reps he could add.

He normally benches 10-11, but he just doesn't seem to do as well in those settings... But he definitely can and should have done more than 7, no excuses.... After soccer and track is complete, he will be hard on the weights getting ready for camp... Thanks for the comments... good and bad.

Things are starting to heat up...

The is a new article I found posted on Darrieus today.......

DB

Darrieus Ramsey

Super sleeper Darrieus Ramsey of Yorktown (VA) Grafton is catching the attention of lots of schools, especially since his 40- yard dash time last Tuesday of 4.34 at a local combine.
“I don’t have any offers yet, but I like Alabama, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida State, South Carolina, Nebraska, and Ohio State,” said Ramsey.
“I want to get two thousand yards this year. I really want to run the ball around the end more this year instead of running up the middle so much to utilize my speed more.”
Ramsey missed two games last season with a severe ankle sprain, but still made 2nd team All-District as a junior.
Ramsey is 5’10, 170 pounds and runs the 40- yard dash in the sub 4.4 range consistently. Last season he rushed for around 900 yards with 14 touchdowns, while breaking up 10 passes from his cornerback position.

So where would Darrieus like to line up on the field?

“I don’t care what position I play, I just want to play.

nice Insiders update on Darrieus today

They list his summer camp schedule with stops at Alabama, Auburn, Virginia, Florida State, and either Maryland or Ohio State.

Maryland or Ohio State

DB- where is the love??? (just kidding)- hopefully he makes it to C-bus this summer

It will be one of the two... OSU appears to be so limited with offers this year, it appears that it may be a long shot for them to offer an out of state sleeper back/DB even if he does have 4.3 speed. What do you guys think?

The fastest time of the day went to this 5’10”, 157 lb RB/DB from Grafton. Darrieus turned in a 4.56 at the Nike Combine in Charlottesville to finish in the Top 5 for DBs at that prestigious event. Looks like opponents will need to figure out a way to catch him in the backfield.

Unfortunately we are a bit tight with schollies this year and we seem to have alot of DB's already with one more Instate looking ot get offered. Also with the possibility of a instate RB getting offered (depending on grades) not sure, but if he comes to camp and does well they wouldn't hesitate to offer.
