I am a little confused as why even meet with the staff if you are solid on Minny? I don't buy the courtesy explanation. Something tells me that he is wavering.

I am probably wrong though. Story of my life.
Somebody proposed a theory BN after reading ADs comments in the Dispatch about "not wanting to burn any bridges" with the OSU staff. What if there are some qualifying issues at Minn and he doesnt get his scholly right away? It would be much more expensive for him to pay his own way for an OOS school vs tOSU. Its a theory maybe an unfair one but an interesting one.

Or maybe he started looking at the depth chart again and saw that he could seriously see the field as a SAM/WILL in his sophomore season. Who better to learn the position from than AJ or Carpenter? I dont think there is anyone on the Gophers roster that could teach him much about the LB position. I just read DLong's last few updates on BNs and he continues to mention that this was Alex's first season at LB and he didnt really know what he was doing. DLs perception is that AD has more potential than McCoy - DL calls him The Freak.

the entire thing is odd. he was a regular around osu practices and home games. he then visits OU and doesnt like it and gets homesick. He shortly visits minny thereafter and commits to them a little later. its not like minny is a short little jaunt either.

he now waits until the week before signing day to visit even though he is solid with minny? The whole thing seems odd to me, regardless of the outcome.

That could be the public message to appease the Gopher fans
That is plausible, maybe doesnt want to burn any bridges at Minny yet, but I am still confused about why meet with the staff if you are not interested. He was a regular at practice and has been on campus and met the coaches to many times to count.....its either just odd or this rumor has teeth to it. Its not adding up in my book.

I just love this time of year.......speculation is my middle name.

Alex says that he wishes the OSU coaches would leave him alone. He tells the reporter to put in quotes that he will be a Gopher. He says he wants to go to Minnesota and he wishes people would just respect his decision. He can't wait to get to Minnesota. He says he and his two teammates headed to Minnesota are all fully qualified.

If he feels so strongly about Minny, then I ask...why visit campus and the staff today?

I guess the answer would be that recruting is not always logical and it is sometimes full of suprises at the end.
I think that is what we are all wondering...

the dispatch makes many of the same comments the other sources also make.

Brookhaven linebacker Alex Daniels plans to visit with OSU coaches today on campus, but he said no one should read into it that he is reconsidering his commitment to Minnesota.

"I didn’t want to burn any bridges with the Ohio State coaches because they are good guys," Daniels said, "but I am still going to Minnesota."

didnt the article for Brian Robiskie say that the gophers were intested in him...maybe they are getting Alex to put a good word for them during his visit...this more than likely isn't the case but it is still possible...However I took alex as a classier guy than that so I think its very unlikely

I believe Daniels' visit is today and Robiskie's is this weekend.

If we can some how land Alex, I think that would take the blow out of losing Rico McCoy a little bit. Imagine finishing with JG, Daniels, Wilson, Ashley, Robiskie and DW3... that would be quite the different ending compared to the past 2 or 3 years. I feel the Bucks finish with Alex Daniels, DW3, Robiskie and JG (even though I value WStripes opinion).

thanks...I wasn't aware that they were visiting on different days...on another note...y do u think that we r all of a sudden getting daniels...he has said numerous times that he is happy at minny...not to mention the fact that 2 of his friends are going there with him...so y would he all of a sudden turn his back on them...if all this wasn't enough he is coming here today to supposedly mend his bridges or whatever...so y would he then leave things on a bad note with minny...dont get me wrong i want him in S&G but i jsut dont see it coming...of course everyone is entitled to his own opinion

Guys, I know that it hurts to lose an athlete of AD's caliber to Minny right out of our own backyard, but that's the deal. When a blue-chip kid grows up in C-bus, visits OSU regularly, has an offer and still says no, he's not going to change his mind at the last minute. This situation reminds me of Kijana Carter's recruitment in some ways in the sense that all of his public quotes have been firm that he's not going to OSU.

I wish him luck and hope that he enjoys going 0-4 against his hometown team.
