Fred Rouse, WR
Class of ‘05, Florida State

An elite prospect who started garnering national attention early in his high school career, the hot-headed Rouse was a source of trouble throughout a freshman season in which he caught just six passes. FSU coach Bobby Bowden recently dismissed him from the team.

It seems Fred Rouse was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff's Department. The charges:

1 DRUGS-POSSESS CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITHOUT PRESCRIPTION
BURGL OF DWELLING UNARMED NO ASSLT OR BATT 810.02 3A
2006CF2127A2 GRAND THEFT IS $300 OR MORE BUT LESS THAN $5000

(This was purportedly taken from the Sheriff's website earlier today, but I can't find it on the actual site)

So much potential thrown down the drain.

AJ Nicholson has also been arressted in this crime. He and Rouse stole $1,700 in stereo equipment from teammate Lorenzo Booker. Nicholson and Booker were roommates for several years at FSU but it appears they had a falling out. Rouse was also charged with being in possession of a non-prescription drug which has been identified as cocaine by an insider at warchant.com that broke this story about 4 days before it was released. AJ Nicholson had been drafted by the Bengals, not really sure why he needed to be stealing equipment, but this certainly doesnt help his reputation as a thug

According to police, it was esctacy.

Two former Florida State football players have been charged with stealing electronic equipment worth more than $300 from the home of a current player, Tallahassee Police told ESPN's Joe Schad on Wednesday.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker A.J. Nicholson and former wide receiver Fred Rouse, who was dismissed by coach Bobby Bowden at the end of last season for detrimental conduct, are charged with burgularizing the Tallahassee home of current Florida State running back Lorenzo Booker on May 20 or 21.

Rouse confessed his involvement to authorities on May 27, according to police. Rouse was arrested and charged with three felonies: burgularly of a dwelling, grand theft and unrelated possessions of a controlled substance without a prescription, which was esctacy. Rouse has been released on bond.

A warrant is out for the arrest of Nicholson, who faces felony charges of burgularly of a dwellling and grand theft and criminal mischief, which is a misdemeanor.

"Obviously, Lorenzo's not really happy that his former teammates, Rouse and Nicholson, did this," Tallahassee Police Public Information Officer John Newland said. "This incident occurred May 20 and A.J. was drafted in April. You knew you were leaving. Why would you put yourself through this? It's just really unfortunate."

Nicholson, who was accused of a sexual assault in Miami and sent home from the Orange Bowl, was selected by the Bengals in the fifth round. Nicholson, who has pleaded no contest to a DUI arrest and had another incident with Tallahassee police that led to dropped charges of resisting arrested, has not been charged in the sexual assault case.

Rouse, one of the nation's top freshman prospects last season, and a native of Tallahassee, had only six catches for 114 yards and one touchdown. Rouse also returned 11 punts for 97 yards and six kickoffs for 107 yards.

* The State Attorney's Office in Tallahassee filed formal felony charges last week against former FSU players A.J. Nicholson and Fred Rouse in connection with a burglary at the home of current Seminole Lorenzo Booker. Nicholson, 23, faces charges of burglary of a dwelling, grand theft and criminal mischief. He has an arraignment on Aug. 17.
"My client is dealing with his legal issues and I believe they will be resolved and he will be participating in the 2006 season with the Bengals," said James Varnado, Nicholson's Tallahassee-based attorney.
Nicholson was drafted in the fifth round by Cincinnati. That was lower than projected following a string of off-the-field issues in 2005, including his suspension for the Orange Bowl for a "violation of a team rule" amid an accusation of sexual assault.
Rouse, 20, a heralded receiver out of Tallahassee Lincoln, was dismissed from the team in January for "violation of team policy" and has been looking to transfer. He now faces felony charges of burglary of a dwelling and grand theft as well as a felony possession of Ecstacy in an unrelated case. He has a July 31 arraignment.

Wasn't Rouse the kid that said he would have went directly to the NFL had Clarett won his case? This kid needs to screw his head on straight and get his life on track. If he gets charged as a felon and is looking to transfer, then I guess Tennessee would be the perfect fit  .
