'05 FL RB Conredge Collins (Pitt signee)

Is he qualified or not?

Earlier in the thread, OSUGrad claimed he was fully qualified, then according to HH, he is not. Anyone know the real deal on him? If he is academically cleared, I say he'd be a great pickup. If not, I would be a little more hesitant to welcome him.

Wow!!! What a turn of events.... for the better!!!! I am so siked for Collins to join us. He is exactly what we are looking for in a big back right now. And, for all those wondering about this affecting Wells's decision... it will have absolutely no affect what-so-ever. Wells already knew we were going to take 2 backs in this class... one of Wells's skills and one like Collins. Wow!!! Awesome!!! Welcome Conredge. Welcome to the Buckeye family. You will be greatly appreciated for your future accomplishments. You have definitely made the right decision.

Supposedly Duane spoke to him recently and he is very excited about possibly being a Buckeye. He was under the impression that we already had a back committed in this class (Wells?) but Duane cleared that up. DL thinks that he and Gwaltney are very similar in style and talent.

If the choice is between Gwaltney and Collins, I would take Collins. Collins has shown it on the field against the talent in Florida. Gwaltney has shown it against the talent - where? Remember Sammy from New York who was suppose to be all world - what did he do. I would rather have a talent that has shown what he can do against other blue chippers. Maybe I am wrong and Gwaltney is everything they say he is but I would still rather have a kid that has played against good to great talent. Florida has great talent and I can not say the same for New York.

I am only going on what Insiders has:

Collins is a full academic qualifier.
HH is closer to the situation so I will definitely defer to him here. However, he could be referring to tOSU admission standards and not the Clearinghouse.

This would be a huge pick up for the Bucks, I hope he is qualified academically. He is listed as the #2 fullback by rivals and #50 at runningback on scout.
FWIW - Lemming has him as the #20 RB... but that was before he committed to us. Who knows now... lol.

But it really doesn't matter. Who cares where he is ranked right now. I believe int he kid that he will be a solid contributor to our team and a tough competitor. He is built like a tank right now, and will only get better.

ohio state is not interested in collins......probably grades

From what I have read that is the impression that I am getting too. It kind of made me wonder when he had other teams cool on him. He seems to be too much of a risk. In past years I'd say maybe, but after all that has went on I'm thinking no.

You can't generalize an entire state based on one flop. Just this past season, there was a RB from NY who lit it up in the Big 10. Perhaps you've heard of Mike Hart???

i dont know if it is grades exactly. fsu usually takes anybody.

if it was grades, why did snyder tell him that osu has what they need at rb instead of just telling him he was an academic risk?

if osu wanted him, but grades were a concern i'm sure they would have said his offer was contingent on academics just as they have with several other recruits.
