Offensive lineman Kevin Bemoll yesterday became the second player from the talented Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School football team to commit to Ohio State’s recruiting class of 2005.
Could there be a third?
Bemoll’s teammate, Mark Sanchez, considered the No. 1 pro-style quarterback prospect in the nation by Rivals100.com, reportedly could make his decision in the next week or so. Bemoll said last night that he believed Sanchez might have narrowed his choices to Ohio State and Texas.
"I think we have got a shot," Bemoll said, chuckling.
By "we," he meant the Buckeyes, because he and fellow Diablo Ryan Williams, a defensive lineman, have committed. Williams committed a month ago.
Bemoll returned from a trip to Columbus last weekend and picked Ohio State over Miami, Florida, Florida State and Notre Dame. He canceled a trip next week to Louisiana State.
"I know for sure Ohio State is where I want to go," said Bemoll, the seventh member of the recruiting class. "I just think it’s right; it’s a really good fit."
The 6-foot-6, 318-pound Bemoll, ranked No. 11 among tackle prospects by Rivals, made up his mind early on he wanted to leave the West Coast to play college football. His grandfather, Dan Bemoll, accompanied him to the Florida major schools.
"I thought he was going to go to Miami," Dan Bemoll said. "But then he went up there to Columbus on his own and he fell in love with Ohio State. He liked the school, the coaches, the kids."
