THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Offensive lineman Kevin Bemoll yesterday became the second player from the talented Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School football team to commit to Ohio State’s recruiting class of 2005.

Could there be a third?

Bemoll’s teammate, Mark Sanchez, considered the No. 1 pro-style quarterback prospect in the nation by Rivals100.com, reportedly could make his decision in the next week or so. Bemoll said last night that he believed Sanchez might have narrowed his choices to Ohio State and Texas.

"I think we have got a shot," Bemoll said, chuckling.

By "we," he meant the Buckeyes, because he and fellow Diablo Ryan Williams, a defensive lineman, have committed. Williams committed a month ago.

Bemoll returned from a trip to Columbus last weekend and picked Ohio State over Miami, Florida, Florida State and Notre Dame. He canceled a trip next week to Louisiana State.

"I know for sure Ohio State is where I want to go," said Bemoll, the seventh member of the recruiting class. "I just think it’s right; it’s a really good fit."

The 6-foot-6, 318-pound Bemoll, ranked No. 11 among tackle prospects by Rivals, made up his mind early on he wanted to leave the West Coast to play college football. His grandfather, Dan Bemoll, accompanied him to the Florida major schools.

"I thought he was going to go to Miami," Dan Bemoll said. "But then he went up there to Columbus on his own and he fell in love with Ohio State. He liked the school, the coaches, the kids."

Anyone else see the new video of Bemoll that Rivals now has? He has great feet and he's very agressive. The one thing that stood out to me was that on several plays Bemoll would block his man and then move on to block someone else. It looks like we got a couple of gems out of Mission Viejo.

You have to be excited about our future offensive line.

I just got around to watching his Insiders video which looked like their game was broadcast on Fox Sports. I'd seen a little of him in Sanchez's video but this one was awesome. I may be going out on a limb here but he looks to be the best, at least on video, of any of the great linemen we've brought in the last two years.

That is a bold statement Coxew. Mitchum's video was one of the top videos I have seen and then there was Person who loos to get soem playing time this year. I think he is the farthest ahead right now. Also not sure if you have seen Boone or Cordle's videos, both VERY impressive! With Boone nudging Cordle out.

Boone is beyond impressive.

As for comparing Cordle to Bemoll based on videos, its a little hard to do since Cordle's team runs the ball about every play. Cordle is ridiculously quick off the ball though. However, you have to wonder about his pass blocking ability. Bemoll certainly can pass block, and is great against the run as well.

mitchum, skinner, rehring, person, boone, cordle, bemoll and possibly ronnie wilson. running backs and qb's should be drooling to stand behind these guys.

Like I said, I may be going out on a limb and I have seen everyone else's video. Boone is just so damn big it's kind of hard tell how good he really is because of the size factor. How does he match up with someone within 4" and 50 pounds of him? It's hard to gauge that. We also couldn't see how Cordle pass blocks. Bemoll dominated in both the run and pass. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're all going to be studs but I just got a little pumped up after watching KB's video after not hearing much about him for the last month or so.

I agree, coxew. Bemoll's video was very impressive. The Insiders video is far better than the Rivals clips which were basically of Sanchez. He has great feet and plays nasty. You bring up an excellent point about Cordle. Lancaster doesn't exactly throw the ball around so the jury is still out on his pass blocking. He's a devastating lead blocker when he pulls and appears to have great feet.

The O-line is soon going to be one of the strengths of the team. Hopefully Taz puts the exclamation point on a fantastic O-line class.
