'05 AZ RB Matt Clapp (Oklahoma signee)

I spoke to Mr. Clapp at Senior Camp and thought I would pass on what he told me. Matt's high school coach took Matt and a couple of players to see the Buckeyes practice for the Fiesta Bowl. Matt got to meet Coach Tressel who spent time with him and he was blown away that JT would do that when preparing for a bowl game. Coach Tressel and the other coaches have stayed in contact and developed a rapport with the family. Thus, the interest from a player in Arizona. ( Matt's high school coach may also be an OSU fan ).

Matt had attended 5 other camps this year and OSU was his last. The family flew to Cbus for the one day camp. Matt is high on the Bucks and hopes to receive an offer. From observing him at the camp I can tell you he sure passes the Look Test. He has great size and showed good speed. He also showed good hands as I was obseving a passing drill for backs and linebackers.

I hope he recieves an offer and believe he will accept.

Oklahoma may have been his favorite all along, but an OSU offer would have probably sweetened the pot a little and made it interesting. Seems obvious that OSU is uncertain if they need a FB in this class. Probably would like to get a chance to see Stan White and Dionte Johnson in camp this fall and see what they have to deal with in the future. I personally think they are fine at that position, but what do I know, just an observers guess. Best of luck to Matt.

I hate to "lose" a kid like Matt, and I think that OU got a good one. As others have said, FB is not a real "need" position for the Bucks this year, and that as much as anything likely explains the lack of an offer.

Best of luck to Matt.
