Seems like a good guy and its a great story. Hope he is successful in the NFL and life. By the way, I saw the highlight of the late Seattle touchdown and I did not think that receiver was his responsibility. I thought the corner and safety on the other side of the field missed their...
Fortunately for the Buckeyes, I will not be making my appearance on the sidelines this week as the new defensive coordinator. However, I expect that this issue and the selection of personnel will be addressed soon because Urban Meyer has questioned the defenses' ability to pressure the QB...
Fickell needs to get over the 4 defensive tackle look he (and Heacock) loves. It is an effective way to stop the run, but it is not what we need to take that next step. Move Hankins and Simon inside (with Goebel, Hale and Schutt) [they will be more effective and disruptive inside vs guards]...
Texas A&M was about Gene Stallings and Missouri was a reach in my opinion -- an overreaction. Slive should have waited to see how things played out (like Delany has). The SEC steals two from the Big 12 and then creates the SEC-Big 12 partnership (odd move and clearly not the result of long term...
Delany will get what he wants. He is unbelievable at manipulating the situation. The SEC is "distracted" by football concerns only, while Delany is concerned about the bigger picture. UVa, GT, UNC (if they will split from Duke), ND (if they get over themselves) would be good choices. This...
As for the record, there was a TE (Roberts?) that committed to OSU around Christmas and committed to Miami soon thereafter. I don't remember the time involved.
Adding Georgia Tech would be a good move -- academically they meet the requirements. It would also help with recruiting kids from Georgia -- they can play in front of the home crowd a couples of times in their careers. It would still be difficult to get kids out of the south, but it would help.
I have heard him make comments about OSU guys before (even acknowledging Ohio State dominance). They are typically funny comments. Some folks may need to lighten up on the conspiracy theory/us against the world paranoia and laugh a little.
When they are honest, Auburn fans will admit that their players are getting $$. However, they will tell you that they need to do it to try to keep up with Alabama. Alabama has the best network in place to handle this ($$ to families/recruits). If you go back and look at the things Alabama...
I agree with LJB and Jaxbuck -- this situation was created by Tressel and folks need to quit blaming everyone else.
The bowl ban should have been expected (the NCAA was embarrassed by letting those players play in the Sugar Bowl) and it was absolute incompetence to only research the past few...
I am glad Tressel is gone - this is his creation and we are left to watch the train wreck both on and off the field and the slow clean up. He screwed up off the field and hopefully that wreck will end. We also have to watch the train wreck on the field -- it looks a lot like 2004 after the...
I agree that Akron wasn't the strongest opponent, but the offensive line did much beter than we have done over the past 5-6 years. We have struggled with MAC opponents in run blocking to the point where folks here complain that we should be able to move these guys. The line did yesterday.
I...
Unfortunately, the head coach is ultimately responsible for his team (e.g., wins, losses, NCAA violations). It appears that Tressel ran a program that allowed these violations to continue. Did Pryor stop playing golf (if the story is true) -- it appears that he did, but does that fix the NCAA...
I have to admit that I was ready for a regime change (i.e., Tressel) at OSU before this stuff became public (tired of the poor OL and QB coaching, bad/overly conservative offense and the micro-managing to the detriment of the offense and the team). I never expected that Tressel was waist deep...
There are a lot of raw nerves out there right now. However, I had a good day. I live in SEC territory and I don't have a problem telling folks what I think about this (the fact that I am outspoken in my disgust for what happened actually surprises them - I think they expect me (or want me) to...
There appear to be a number of unanswered questions, e.g., did he talk to the players after he got the email, did he do anything with the information, did he talk to the lawyer over the phone, in person, in a separate email account, did he talk to anyone in the compliance department, Gene Smith...
Gatorubet -- I have to agree with you. I will give Coach Tressel the benefit of the doubt on trying to talk to the players, but having "evidence" that at least a few players had violated NCAA rules and not reporting them to compliance ... its not hard to reach the conclusion most around the...
