  1. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

I got to watch the team in Champaign this weekend. Gary is doing a wonderful job. He is building something special in Columbus that has not been there for a long time - a complete team that was seriously into how each other were doing!
  2. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

I was there the entire time. It was an awesome environment. One of the most exciting meets I have been to (probably becasue it was so short as well). I thought it was really cool that the team sang happy birthday to Coach Gary after their victory lap and before singing Carmen Ohio. Really...
  3. Ohio State Track and Cross Country (2020, 2021 B1G Women's outdoor Track Champs)

"The Dual" with Michigan is set for this Saturday at the Jesse. Looks like a great event. I like how the University seems to be raising the bar for some quality events in such a beautiful stadium. Go Bucks!
  4. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

There is no doubt that Gary is moving the men's program along big-time(especially with events like this and cross country reunion/hosting Big 10's in the fall). He has some great energy and certiainly bleeds scarlet and gray. I disagree with his focus on Ohio because I think OSU track should...
  5. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

I too am surprised how quickly things have turned around, but again, the new leadership must be unbelievably refreshing to anyone and everyone involved with the program. I think it is also commendable that Gary has assessed the conference and made the wise decision to really focus on the sprints...
  6. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

The men's program took a huge step to jump into the 3rd position. Gary feels the team is even better outdoors (possible additions of football players and star sprinters Stuart Smith and Aaron Roberts getting back on track). He is doing a heck of a job and I wish the University would build a real...
  7. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

They have a landed a great recruiting class with a couple Ohioians also in the top 5 in the country leading the way. Add in this stud thrower from Georgia and they have the cornerstones to actually build something. It's going to be tough on Gary though; I listened to him speak at the clinic and...
  8. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Tressel and Gary get along much better than Russ. Even without football, Gary is recruiting and coaching these guys. The attitude of the team is 100% better - nothing but positives from across the state. Just wish he'd focus on national recruits as well. Can't wait to see signing day for the...
  9. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Gary is spaking at the ohio track clinic next Thursday night at 7:30. He is a great speaker if you can make it (Hilton out at Easton). I believe he is talking about the state of the OSU mens program for those interested.
  10. 2007-2008 Ohio State Women's Track and Cross Country

I would not hold breath for track program to improve. Theer are many unhappy student-athletes on the womens side and recruiting is non-existent in any area. The distance program will only get worse (though that may not be possible). It's unfortunate really because of all the talent in Ohio.
  11. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

See had a very great year last year, but it went unnoticed due to redshirting outdoors after claiming the indoor big ten title and all-american honors. He ran 3:58 for a full mole and then ran 3:40 to qualify for the Olympic Trials this summer. After his 6th in cc at big tens this fall, I think...
  12. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Gary gave a speech at a luncheon and commented on the strengths of the football program and what/how track can copy from them. He may be young, but he is committed, passionaite, and I am guessing he has more energy than any other conference coach. Hearing a lot of great things from alumni for...
  13. 2007-2008 Ohio State Men's Track and Cross Country

Cory Leslie #3 miler in country Wes Wright #3 hammer - #4 shot Zach Richards #4 hammer Heath Nickles 2007 300h and pole vault state champion (decathlete?) Its' starting on the men's side with Gary and his staff and they are looking to be balanced with Ohio recruits for the first time in 25...
