Search Buckeyeplanet from the comfort of your browser's search bar

Ah, thanks IAB. I haven't had a chance to play around with Vista yet.

Search Buckeyeplanet from the comfort of your browser's search bar

I had a few spare minutes at work today. During that time, I ran across something in the documentation in our bug tracker and it led me on a bit of a trail. Anyway, I ended up with a custom search option for our bug tracker for both Firefox and IE7 search boxes. It's pretty cool. The Firefox...

    PC speakers to TV

Check out your local Radio Shack. You can pick up any converter for pretty cheap. Something like a RCA to 1/8" Audio Jack would make it easy to plug your TV into your speakers. (Those are some nice speakers, btw)

Oops.... Flaw hunters go off on Safari Anyway, I haven't used Safari yet, but it would be nice to test against for web development.

    "24" The Show

For those interested, the 24 "plot" will be continued on Dave Barry's blog over the summer. 9pm is the update time. Last week's continuation was great. Dave Barry's Blog: 24

    vbPlaza

Fwiw, "Edit vbPlaza Options" still shows in the user cp. I'm assuming it's not needed any more since vbPlaza is no more.

    XKCD

For any math/science/computer enthusiasts around: check out XKCD, it's a webcomic that's pretty funny. Most of the stuff is just stick figures, but it's the content that's good. There's lots of good stuff there (some better than others, but that's to be expected). http://www.xkcd.com/ A...

    "24" The Show

Yah, that's why this year's show isn't as good. It desperately needs more Jack and less everything else.

    "24" The Show

Very much so. This season started good, but then quickly faded into a mess of subplots. I thought it was awesome that Jack finally used an assault rifle this week. But of course he only used it for two guys, then decided it would server him better if it was mangled in an exhaust fan...

Somebody put an announcement on the top of the tech forum :wink2:

Voice chat on BP / Ventrilo Server

Ventrilo is real nice for gaming so people can hold a conversation while playing any game. It allows for great teamwork, etc in online gameplay. I agree that the recruiting team and the game preview people may like to use it. But I'm not sure how much the general population would use it...

    Stack overflow?

Don't worry, you're not imagining things. You did put it in the computer forum. One of the mods moved it to Admin, then back again.

    Stack overflow?

I would guess that since nobody has responded to this it is more likely an issue on your side. I would make sure that you are free of spyware and viruses. If you're sure of that, then it may be on the server side.

Nice to see Microsoft Is Simplifying things with Vista...

That is correct. It is an error when Windows completes something successfully on the first try. :wink2:

    1 TB Hard Drive

IMO, Flash hard drive's will not overtake the current hard drive standard as the technology stands now. There is no way I would take a flash disk that has a limited number of read/write cycles for my main hard drive. I'd love to have a solid-state hard drive, but not one with the current flash...

    1 TB Hard Drive

    Some quick math: NTFS default large disk cluster size is 4,096 bytes (4 KB). Theoretical 2^64 clusters: 4096 * 2^64 = 4096 * 18446744073709551616 = 75,557,863,725,914,323,419,136 Bytes = 73,786,976,294,838,206,464 Kilobytes = 72,057,594,037,927,936 Megabytes = 70,368,744,177,664...

    1 TB Hard Drive

I'm 99% sure that the partition size limitations are not an issue with modern formats (ntfs, ext3, etc.).

    1 TB Hard Drive

http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/10/hitachis-1tb-deskstar-7k1000-in-the-wild/ From the FWIW department. Things keep progressing. It's really not all that badly priced at $400. $.40 per gigabyte is just a bit above the average.

Your computer, you should have total control over it.

avast: antivirus. It's free, it's good. Process Explorer: by the company formerly known as winternals (bought by microsoft). It's a great alternative to the windows task manager, and much more powerful. (free) Foxit PDF reader: because Adobe reader is WAY too bulky and takes way too long to...
