Game Thread Game Two: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (final)

Yup, I think so. I'd rank them at #4, behind the SEC, Big 10, and ACC. 83% in a top 4 conference is one hell of an achievement, even if it's not the best conference.

Since you guys had the statistical anomaly that was John Cooper, I think you tend to overemphasize the idea of "bad big game coach." The players play the game. Anyway, Texas went 43-8 from 2001-2004. That's simply not underachieving in my book when you play in a major BCS conference.

The first is an opinion, and here's some evidence that Texas is far from underachieving: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=144428#post144428 Not to defend the show, but as I say in that thread:

    CFN's new rankings.

For fuck's sake, I know our defense was bad and that luck factors in to turnovers, but don't you think the defense had might have had something to do with some of those turnovers? Woodley forced a fumble, and Burgess put his helmet right on the ball to force another. As for "would have...

'06 MD CB A.J. Wallace (Penn State signee)

I'm not going to sugarcoat this. So we're looking good on Roland Johnson next year. Whoopee, he probably won't start until 2008-2009. I'm definitely disappointed a Top 100 CB like AJ isn't interested, but I wish him the best. I see; saying it in caps makes it true! You sure post alot about a...

What 3 games will scUM lose this year?

I expect OSU will beat Iowa, Iowa will beat Michigan, and Michigan will beat OSU. We'll probably lose to someone else (MSU is the trendy choice), but Wisconsin is going to be way down from last year, so it's probably not them. Yes, we're overrated. So are all the other top 10 teams(minus USC...

    I Hate Cedric Benson

How is the quote ridiculous? Are you implying he didn't say it or that it's taken out of context, or are you defending it? Edit: Hmm, some quick googling doesn't really come up with anything. The best source I can find is this, and there's some obvious bias there. I'm a little skeptical...

    I Hate Cedric Benson

Actually, I'm quite thoroughly indifferent on the negociations. Guys hold out; teams cut them. It's just business. What stood out to me is this: Frankly, he's an asshole. I respected Benson a lot before I read that, but now I hope he washes out of the NFL. Fuck him.

Ironic. He didn't do much of anything that game, either.

BP Poll Thread (with Week 1 updates)

Just looking at the top 10, I'd say that's better than the AP's poll. Nice job.

    AP Poll out

Yup, we're overrated. The top football schools are always overrated because there's always some schools that surprise everyone. We're not the worst offenders by far in the overrated category (Texas A&M and Notre Dame are much worse). For a statistical analysis of this idea, look here...

    Heisman candidates & AA's (TSN)

I thought their unit rankings were pretty odd, but I thought their team rankings were quite good (and I bet you guys will agree): 1) USC 2) Tennessee 3) Ohio State 4) Virginia Tech 5) Texas 6) LSU 7) Miami 8) Michigan 9) Oklahoma 10) Iowa They're quite high on Virginia Tech since...

Where do you disagree with the CFN article? According to it, and I agree, our teams match up well, not to mention the game being at Michigan Stadium.

USA Today Coaches Poll is out

I disagree that 21-14 is a "huge scare." I agree on the 1999 game, but I guess I still don't see how we deserved this comment: Since 1997, Michigan has lost only once to a truly unworthy Notre Dame team. I've never heard anyone else intimate that Michigan-ND is any different from your typical...

Game Thread Game Eleven: Ohio state 25, Michigan 21 (final)

CFN has posted their (wildly premature) breakdown of The Game. http://collegefootballnews.com/2005/Preview/BigGameBreakdown_OhioState_Michigan.htm I'd lower our linebackers 0.5 and raise our quarterbacks 0.5, but I think they did a good job (outside of the mention of Allison), as usual for...

USA Today Coaches Poll is out

Since 1997, 2004 is the only year that's true. ND was pretty good in 1998 and 2002, far from barely eligible.
