There were a lot of red flags with Urban at the time: washed up after Florida, ran away from Saban, couldn't control the players off-field. Fortunately, those things didn't happen at Ohio State.
They were the rules at the time. I'm also pretty sure that any employee caught repeatedly lying to his superiors and the governing body of his industry would be just as fired as Tressel. JT got what was coming to him. It's not a disgusting shame; it was a case of Tressel putting the...
An Earl Bruce type Ohio guy who gets the rivalry and wins it a majority of the time but loses 3 games a year is a disaster because that means he's missing the playoffs almost every year.
As for yesterday, that might be the worst gameplan I've ever seen. We have an offensive line held together...
If Howard had thrown five interceptions, but they were all on deep routes to Smith, Egbuka and Tate we would have won this game the way our defense played. Also, Day needs to understand that this isn't 1985. You don't run the ball to open up the passing game. You throw the ball downfield to...
I'll blame him for the field goals because an Ohio State team should never have a kicker who misses repeatedly from less than 40. Fielding missed those kicks, but Fielding was only allowed to miss those kicks because Day had him there.
Very good point. And our power structure of admin, BoT, prominent alumni, donors (both athletic and otherwise) would not turn the entire university over to him like Colorado did.
Same chance as Reggie Germany's GPA. They're not bringing him back. Christ, he thought he was bigger than the university last time around. Imagine what he'd be if Carter and Bjork went to him on bended knee and begged him to return. The PR hit would be terrible. As others have noted, the...
Yep. Even their denial wouldn't have been enough to block out the doubts. Having won today, they will absolutely be able to tell themselves that Stalions had nothing to do with it, and they're just better.
And set the program back twenty years. Lost the state of Ohio recruiting when that was crucial. Didn't understand recruiting speed just as that became a dominant factor in cfb. Made next to no efforts to recruit nationally. He was a great guy and got The Game, but he was a disaster in the...
Dude, they were absolutely exhausted by that time from being on the field too long. You saw that in the late broken tackle run. That's a one yard gain early in the quarter. My only surprise is that they stayed dominant for as late into the game as they did.
I'm actually leaning towards moving on from Day, but one nagging question is in the back of my mind? Where do we turn?
Vrabel: Has said a hundred times that he hates coaching college and will not recruit
Urban: The board and admin are not bringing back fucking Urban Meyer
Lanning: Home run...
Barbie went off on runs up the middle, and we had no answer is my memory. Day can be blamed for some losses, and there are others where there are legitimate reasons we lost other than coaching.. Shit happens, and Ohio State doesn't get to win every big game it ever plays in. I remember an...
Please, Reggie Blutarsky. Also, DUI's and I believe a couple of other arrests. It wasn't 1988 Oklahoma, but it had become an embarrassing train wreck of a program that needed to be dealt with.
Fields ran into Saban's best team ever and had to take them on with a cracked rib. Nobody was beating 2020 Alabama.
CJ ran into Conor Stallions and the most extensive on-field cheating operation in American sports history.
There are some excuses to be made for Day. Today, there are none...
I think Bjork did the 80 large extension. I might be wrong, but it's been my understanding.
I know that we're going on the road and have a kicker who misses from less than 40 yards. So pretty much no. I'll root against a few teams, and that'll be my interest.
