If Buford keeps improving it will be an interesting dilemma. But did you see that graphic about how much worse our defensive numbers and %'s have been since Lighty went out? They were pretty dramatic! They included ND and MIA so not all due to the cupcake factor either.
I'd say Lighty goes...
It will be justice, for once, if he does get the whole year back. Something positive in his having to sit those first 12 games after all.
NCAA-idiots!
Let's hope Kec makes the most of this!
'10 NV PG Cory Joseph
Now being actively recruited. With the loss of Crater I think that a 2010 PG is a much bigger possibility so Joseph and perhaps Howard may now get offered.
AFAIK a "preferred" walk-on in any sport means they don't have to go through the dreaded "walk-on tryouts" and sweat making the team at all. They are added to the roster the minute they hit campus. So it does mean something! No money from an athletic schollie but they can get academic...
Actually, Kecman will be a 2nd year JR. He only played JUCO for one year and thus has this and 2 more years of eligibility.
It doesn't seem that the staff has any '09 back burner recruits really. So they do appear to be standing pat even if they have 2-3 guys go pro this early. Losing BJM...
I vaguely remember his dad. I am pretty sure he was a walk-on that played very little.
With Behanan committed to cin, I wonder if he'll get an offer. We could use a PF in that class. TM will probably try to nab a T50 from out of state ( IN it appears ) first but I wouldn't sleep long on...
I'm a little surprised he only averaged 5.6 boards last season. For a 6'6 230 lb powerful kid I would have guessed well over 10 at the h.s. level when he avg 20 pts. Does he play a lot of wing and away from the inside?
Using him as a plan B to Payne is prudent, but offering him and thus RISKING losing Payne for him I would not support! It is still too early in the process and this kid sounds REALLY REALLY RAW. While Payne is in most scouts T20 now. Nudging Payne is one thing, but an offer is too much...
The rumor I heard was not about a state of IL G recruit.
I think that MINIMALLY, BJM and Turner are gone by 2010 so that gives us 6 to use. I'd guess they are gone after this season, actually, unless they get injured.
But it would not surprise me AT ALL if Buford is also a pro by then...
A different PG in that 2010 class popped up as having some recent interest from TM and company. So maybe they are entertaining the idea of a more "pure PG" in the class now after all. With 5 commits and Payne as a "must have", I am surprised but maybe they now know more underclassmen will be...
Huh? If his DAD is the head coach, was he really able to hide such a thing from his "coaches" all season? I'm not diminishing his sacrifice or that he played in pain, but that sounds kind of EXAGGERATED to me. Good Luck to him but some of these stories trying to make kids out as superman just...
Maybe you're just joking but his nick was Noopy, not Snoopy. Reportedly he doesn't really like it tho and wants to be called Anthony. Too bad, I was expecting 4 years of "HANG ON NOOPY, NOOPY HANG ON" at the ends of games when in "protect the ball" mode. Had the pep band all ready and...
Most are reporting that Offutt has been playing 2G primarily. It looks like it may boil down to a two horse race between the scorer/shooter Simmons and the passer/distributor Crater. Maybe they'll start out 20 min each and if one stands out they'll move it to 25-15 eventually.
I'm not dismissing the possibility for Simmons to play some 2G, if we need his shooting there, but I read TM's comments as Crater and Simmons bring different looks to the PG, more than that both will play together. Crater being more of a penetrator ( like say a Conley tho obviously not at that...
I've also heard that Taylor and Chandler have offers.
In the Chandler thread, Taylor is referred to as a wing. At 6'6 185 that sounds a tad small for a PF. Is he expected to grow into a 4? Does he have G skills or more of an inside game? I can't find much to indicate where he projects at...
It's interesting that some think Buford won't even start and others think he is more likely to go pro after this season than Turner ( who will undoubtedly start and probably play more than Buford ).
I don't know that either will get enough "PR", shots, notice to be a high draft choice. But...
I HOPE Turner and Buford stay through at least their JR seasons, but many folks claim that Turner and his advisors have targeted his being a 2&d from his h.s. days and still have that plan firmly in mind. They say this is common knowledge among those who know him. I hope they are wrong, but I...
Our definitions of "been there done that" differ. I personally don't feel anyone with a year or less of college experience, even if a "mostly" starter, qualifies for what I mean by that. Butler did LAST YEAR. Lighty does THIS YEAR. No one else on this year's team does. NONE of the others...
