Those are good questions.
I've always said that Tom McAndrew is on the Paterno payroll. At the very least, he is DEFINITELY a Paterno insider. A DEEP insider. He knows stuff. Shoot, he was the first person back on that Saturday afternoon in January 2012 who had the news that Joe's death was...
I don't know, but I'd give it about 60%-40% odds that if and when NCAA e-mails come out as part of the Paterno lawsuit against the NCAA ----- we'll see some correspondence between the NCAA and Penn State that says something like "sign this consent decree, or we're applying the death penalty...
Again, I know there is no LEGAL right to this as concerns the NCAA and Penn State. But I absolutely 100% believe that ANY "defendant" --- be it in the legal system or some other place --- who pleads guilty should still get a chance to advocate for himself at the "sentencing stage."
Fair enough...
Of course Penn State had no LEGAL right to "due process." I never argued that.
They still SHOULD have received it.
I get that many people will never concede that last point. Fair enough.
I am not a fan of the Machivellian attitude of "the end result was fine, so who cares about the means...
If the sentencing guidelines for having child porn on his computers is "5 to 15 years in prison", should the judge be able to decide that he instead gets 30 years in prison?
FWIW:
Smith was a professor at Penn State from 1968 to 1996. He's "professor emeritus" now, but it's questionable just "how close" to things he may have been during the ensuing 19 years.
A legitimate question is: Where was this guy and why was he not speaking up prior to NOW? Seriously, I've...
In today's "bizarre thread of the day" (there is ALWAYS one bizarre thread a day), Tom McAndrew commented about what type of BWI posts and jokes he finds to be "offensive."
Evidently, McAndrew does not approve of somebody editing an incredibly obscure Wikipedia page and making fun of a...
Just don't "like" the post in this thread! I honestly was making a little joke.

You can tell it definitely hit pretty hard to the truth, though --- the vitriol in the responses is rather extreme (orders of magnitude higher than...
Ah, but there IS no off-season on BWI! While BWI used to be a football board where February-August were guaranteed to be pretty quiet months, it is now a Joe Paterno board. And things can happen at ANY time on the Paterno front.
For instance, the Keith Olbermann kerfuffle broke out while I...
I got a 30 day ban from BWI last winter (January-February). I insulted Tom directly. Can't say I didn't deserve it. Something about how he didn't have the "balls" to admit he has an inside source within the Paterno family.
Another awesome thing about that thread: pnnylion and Bushwood CC...
Someone else "outed" 9fold/BobPSU. Go back to page 1213.
As for 9fold, today he started a thread calling for my banning. What a LOSER.

There was a run on the previous play (went for nothing), and a receiver was open on the 4th-and-2 play.
Hackenberg --- as is often the case for that underachiever --- missed the open guy and ended up sacked.
IMO, it was the correct call.
Maybe, but it had been VERY steady at 17 for several days --- Sunday PM through Thursday AM. Then a pretty quick jump.
17 is a number where a lot of football games "land at", of course --- it's generally more unusual for lines to move from numbers like 3, 7, 10, 14, and 17 versus numbers like...
FWIW, the pointspread has made a jump from 17 to 19 (with a few random 19.5 spreads) in just the last couple hours.
Somewhat unusual in both the magnitude of the jump, and in how quickly it happened.
OK, we have decided. We had a "cult meeting" this afternoon and we took a vote.
Now, the decision won't become public for a couple days, but because I like you guys , I've decided to let you guys know before everyone else.
(DRUM-ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL)...
FWIW, I'm not "defending" "The Rail" ---- I'm being 100% honest here, I spend a lot (way too much) of my time following PSU football and such and I didn't know "The Rail" even existed until I visited this board earlier in 2015.
"The Rail" is "red meat for the true believers." Every fan base...
