Go back and read what I originally said - I was specifically referring to Kirby Smart.
I don't give a crap who Alabama has as an OC or how long they've been there. Alabama and offense are not things that go together.
My point is that Alabama managed to keep an elite DC (Smart) for nearly a...
I'm elated that he's still our coach (at least for the moment), but you can't help but feel for Schiano - man gets his name run through the mud because idiot-in-chief Clay Travis and the Tennessee fanbase want someone who they'll never get (Gruden).
Moreover, given the current climate, I'm sure...
All I wrote was that it's annoying that Bama and Clemson seem to keep their best assistants, whereas we need new ones every 2 years. You seemed to disagree with my point in your original post.
TBH I'm not quite sure what we're arguing about anymore, or even whether you're agreeing or...
Best case scenario:
Dude would be set for life. Why bother taking a HC job / major rebuild when he could stay here and make his mark on future NFL talent ?
Huh? You wrote that you would prefer "NCs" over "the stability of VT and Bud Foster," while ignoring the "stability + NCs" of Alabama and Clemson.
Cool. I'm not looking for an argument
Vols fanbase doing us a major favor here.
You're conveniently overlooking two major examples I mentioned (Alabama and Clemson) that show that winning national championships and stability are not mutually exclusive.
Besides - you're reading way too far into what I said. I said it's annoying...
When has Alabama ever been noted for their offense or their OCs? As I’m sure you picked up on, I was referring to Kirby.
Same for VT and Foster, and Clemson and Venables.
And while few expected Schiano to stay more than 2 years, it doesn’t make it any less annoying to have to go through this...
It's seriously annoying how VT, Clemson and Alabama (until this year) have consistently managed to hang on to stellar coordinators, while we lose ours every 2 years.
Not sure I agree with that statement.
I've personally repeated this ad nauseum, but Burrows - not Haskins - won the QB long ball competition. Plus, as we've seen in his (admittedly limited) snaps, he throws a beautiful long ball.
Burrows might not be the second coming of Jamarco Russell, but...
1) Last year, OSU was absolutely embarrassed on a national stage, scUM lost in surprising fashion to FSU, and PSU lost the last major Big Ten bowl game to USC. The year before, MSU and Iowa were both embarrassed big time in the Big Ten's two biggest bowl games.
I'll agree that the SEC is not...
The same Iowa that was crushed in successive bowl games (2017 Florida 30-3, 2016 Stanford 45-16) ?
Let face it - the Big Ten, outside of Ohio State, does not consistently show up in big games or in bowl games.
Bama and, to a lesser degree, the rest of the SEC do. Similarly, Alabama can play...
I think you missed my point entirely.
Like I said - JT can make those throws, but he also can make terrible throws that cost us the game.
If we want a QB who we can count on, to win the game through the air, he needs to make those throws reliably while reliably not throwing stupid...
It's a coaching decision. I've harped on about it all year, since I believed JT could make the throws but was being held back by needlessly conservative playcalling (Urban emphasizes avoiding turnovers).
Based on last week and this week, the coaches might have had a reason to be conservative.
