Good post. Not sure I'm buying the Harbaugh point in #3. Completely agreed on #4--those two drives turned the game. OSU could've been up 10-7 at the half (getting the 2nd half kickoff, as well) or at least should've been down 7-6. Instead, we can't get a TD and Haubeil misses a gimme, and...
Every fan base does. Not trying to condone what this loser said (and he/she is a complete loser, for sure, in my book at least), but just wanting to point out that every major college team has idiots like this--mouth breathers from opposing fan bases may try to convince themselves that this is...
Better question. 3rd and 8. Team A tackles Team B's ball carrier a solid 3 yards short of the first down, but does so in such an effective manner that, prior to Team B's ball carrier being down, Team A also lodges the ball loose. Issue is, the ball happens to bounce forward 5 yards and goes...
Man, it hurts to type this, but yikes, rewatching this tape, he was completely responsible for 2 of the 3 big Purdue TDs in the 4th. In the first linked clip, he takes a completely atrocious angle/bites a fake that wasn't even a fake/was completely and inexplicably out of position, and in the...
Not casting blame at all, but damnit this is some bad luck--a one man wrecking crew only stays for three years, one of which you only have him for two and a half games.
Also, has any program benefited more from the "roughing the longsnapper" penalty than Michigan? I swear I've never seen any other team get that call, and Michigan seems to get it regularly.
Yeah, I'm sure it's one of those things that seems worse than it really is, I guess. I would be interested in knowing whether on 3rd and long (say 10+ yards), what our opponents' conversion rate is, and how that stacks up, but I'd imagine that's not available.
It concerns me that opponents have figured out that if they're faced with third and long, they can always just throw up a lame jump ball, and our CBs will either allow the pass to be completed or get flagged for a PI call. Granted, some of this is due to your Big Ten officials being just awful...
Agree. Repeatedly in the first half of the Indiana game, IU threw over the top and Wint wasn't fast enough to get over to the receiver to break up the pass.
