I really can't argue with a spread of about 19-21 points in this game. I hope it's less, of course. On paper that's about right, at least until our defense shows significant improvement from last year. As far as Wolfe goes, I hate to even speculate, he does need at least a little room to run...
5'7, 177 lbs.
First of all, Wolfe only played 9 games last year and still had 242 carries for 1630 yards, averaging 6.5 ypc. (Before you say, yeah it was against MAC teams must I remind you that he's not playing with OSUs talent around him, he's playing with NIU's talent. And many of those...
I've noticed that too, though we had a really young 'D' last year, so it's not too surprising. With more experience, someone will probably step up and be noticed for it. I also would be surprised if OSU doesn't score more than 30 points, without turnovers.
That wasn't my question. If he's 200 lbs, is that big enough to last an NFL season as the workhorse? I seem to recall guys that are 230 or 240 lbs getting injured too. In any case, Warrick Dunn gets quite a bit of playing time and he's only slighly heavier than Wolfe. And I don't think...
Do you think Reggie Bush is going to hold up in the NFL? He's not very big either, and he never carried the ball that much at USC. If NIU had a Lendale White, we wouldn't have had to give Wolfe the ball 25-30 times a game. That takes a toll on anybody.
Talk about arrogance. If he hasn't played a down of college football yet, then he's only on a par with somebody that has run for about 1600 yards each of the last 2 years, and a lot of yards against Big 10/11 teams like Michigan and Northwestern. Yes, those aren't teams with good defenses, but...
Oh C,mon! My life doesn't revolve around whether Wolfe gets more yards than Pittman. The discussion was already out there so I made a few points related to it. On paper we don't stack up against OSU, and although there's a small chance we can win, we'll have to play really well and OSU has to...
There are 2 different questions here, maybe three. Yes, Wolfe is too small to have gotten a scholie for OSU. If he WAS at OSU and the coaches could compare him to the other players on a level playing field, would he start? Not sure. Like our coach, they would prolly think he was too small to...
Yes, they would probably outnumber NIU fans. There are apparently lots of Iowa grads in the Chicago area. We don't yet have the football tradition and following to get that many people to the games. We've made progress in the last several years having a good football team but it'll never be...
As with G-Force, I have no problem with the game being at Soldier Field, I'm hoping to be at the game, I think it will be great. But we still play better at Huskie Stadium, the home crowd does pump up the home team even if it doesn't intimidate the opponent. And Huskie stadium is fun with a...
I'm sure we would rather play at Huskie stadium though that does depend on how much money we would get playing at Soldier field. In any case, Iowa would never play us at home. And, like somebody mentioned above, it's silly to refer to it as a home and home, that does sound like NIU's marketing...
All good points. The reason I say our passing game is less of a threat is that, assuming Horvath is our QB, his arm isn't that strong and he occasionally floats one that can be picked off (he's had a few run back for TD's, something we definitely can't afford). He's normally very accurate on...
Certainly our receivers will have to produce in order to soften up the defense. We seem to pass just enough to enable us to run the ball the rest of the time. OSU will probably stack the line of scrimmage against the run (if they feel they need to) and dare us to throw (well that's what I...
So who will be OSU's best defensive player this year? Who's the guy we (and the rest of the teams) need to worry about the most?
By the way, every time I try to post it asks me to login again for some reason. Way to make it difficult for opposing fans to post. :D
Thanks! I generally don't post as much as G-Force even on the NIU board, I just throw an occasional comment in. G-Force made a prediction on the score of the game, you probably don't agree with it but it's just a prediction. I hope we can keep the game close too, with Wolfe anything can...
Hey,
Another NIU fan here. Not sure you need any more NIU fans on this thread as it looks like G-Force has kept it going really long already (took me a long time to get through it). Anyway, just a couple of comments. Most NIU fans know our chances of winning are slim. But no real fan is...
