The Buckeyes destroyed a good team in a tough environment.

Heading into Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma Sooners, most of the questions about Ohio State centered on their “basic defense” and whether a team this young could actually go into Norman and emerge victorious. Safe to say that both were answered.

On this week’s Hangout in the Holyland, Matt and I went through everything that impressed us about the Buckeyes’ dominant performance, including:

  • Dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides
  • How the run game is so dynamic and diverse
  • J.T. Barrett’s renewed confidence in the passing game
  • Wondering whether this season’s offense is already better than last year’s
  • The secondary destroying everything

After breaking down the game, we then discussed whether the win makes this season “playoff or bust,” for the Buckeyes, and the possibility of the Big Ten East with two (or more) worthy playoff teams at the end of the year.

Stick around long enough, and you’ll also hear me compare Jalyn Holmes to a chaperone at high school prom, our thoughts on the broader college football landscape through three weeks, and more.

You can find the podcast on our new iTunes page, and we strongly encourage reviews, comments, criticisms, etc. to help us deliver the best possible audio product. The more we hear from you, the better we can make it. We’re also on Soundcloud, the SB Nation podcast page, and you can subscribe via RSS on your Android and Windows Phone devices here.

Time: 11:37 PM, Local Time. Date: September 17th, 2016. Location: 76 Canyon Road, Berkeley, California 94704. Crime: The murder of the 2016 Big 12 College Football Playoff hopes and dreams.

When Houston took on Oklahoma in early September, everyone in college football knew that this was going to be a game…one that shows where Oklahoma was in terms of their planned returned to the CFP this season, one that shows if Houston was a one-hit wonder last year, and one that showed the nation that college football was officially back for 2016.
As everyone knows, OU lost that game, handedly, to a Group of 5 team. Granted, UH is probably the best (and the highest ranked) Go5 team this year, but it was a loss to a Group of 5 team none the less. The Sooners had a chance to return to glory, as even Ohio State fans know, an early season loss is recoverable.
Later that weekend, the Sooners were turned into something they hate…Texas fans. They needed Texas to beat Notre Dame in order to make their season that much better, to strengthen their schedule, and allow the Sooners a chance to redeem themselves with a potential running of the table back into the CFP.
Of course, this weekend happened, and none of that mattered anymore. The Buckeyes flat out destroyed the Sooners, in every facet of the game. While Oklahoma is still probably one of the best 25 teams in the country, to call them a top 10 team would be insulting to anyone who watches football on any level.
But the Big 12 still had hope. Charlie Strong took his Longhorns to Berkeley to take on the Golden Bears of Cal. Suddenly, everyone at the B1g 12 headquarters in Dallas became Longhorns. The entire season was riding on Texas running the table and earning a spot in the Dance at the end.
You see, this wasn’t much of a stretch though. Anyone with any kind of observation knows the Big 12 is really Texas/Oklahoma and friends. Football makes the college world go ‘round, and the Big 12 has never tried or done a good job at hiding that all the money in the conference lives in Austin or Norman. These 2 schools control everything…football TV money distribution, expansion, even the opportunity for the conference to fold and split teams up into the other 4 of the Power 5 conferences.
Anyone who has watched the conference this year knows they died Saturday night in Berkeley. It is a well-known fact that the defensive play of all 10 teams is a joke at best. Even TCU slid backwards into a Big 12 defense. That was one of their strengths before they made the Power 5 leap.
As it is now, the only hope for the conference is…no one. The respect the power 2 used to have won’t carry a conference champion into the playoffs. That means there will be no CFP money to split up among the teams.
The only thing the Big 12 has going for it anymore this year? Conference expansion. I have never hidden my support for the UH to the Big 12 push. I personally think the conference goes to 14 teams. UH, UC, BYU, Air Force. Those are my 4. I think it brings a lot to the table…recruits, respect, and TV money.
Why am I looking forward to expansion? I live in Big 12 country, even though I follow the B1G. And around here, there isn’t much left to hold onto for the locals. But it made me think…what if this really is the true cause of death for the Big 12? Do these dashed dreams start the ball that causes the conference to over-inflate and eventually die? There are more than a few folks who have thought college football is going to 4 “Mega Conferences”. Could this year be the first leak in the dyke that takes us there?
It really could be.

Buckeyes in the NFL – Week 2

Week two of the NFL is now over, and some former Buckeyes had some impressive games, and some had days they probably want to forget. Let’s jump in and see what all the Buckeye alumni did this past weekend.

Ezekiel Elliott had a touchdown in his debut, but was pretty much bottled up all game. This week he got free a little more and ran the ball 21 times for 83 yards and his second career touchdown. However, it was more about his fumbles this week that has everyone talking. Zeke fumbled twice in the Cowboys 27-23 victory over the Washington Redskins. Only one was lost though, but it did briefly give the Redskins a 23-20 lead when they converted a field goal on their drive after the recovery.

Ezekiel Elliott & David Johnson are tied for the NFC lead in rushing yards with 134.

Christine Michael is 3rd in the NFC with 126.

— Jayson Braddock (@JaysonBraddock) September 19, 2016

Terrelle Pryor also made some headlines this weekend when he made a catch late in the game to set up a potential game winning drive, but he flipped the ball to what looked like the ref, but it landed on the Ravens defensive back Lardarious Webb instead, causing a flag to be thrown. The flag was a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and since there was a defensive holding that would have been declined, the penalties offset causing the down to be replayed. Then the Browns Josh McCown threw a pick on the next play sealing the Browns fate.

Johnathan Hankins had himself a game as well along with teammate Eli Apple, as those two combined for 11 total tackles. Hankins also had a tackle for a loss and a blocked field goal that led to Janoris Jenkins returning it for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter against the Saints.

Oh no he didn’t.

If you’re a huge football player who lifts, works out aggressively, and practices as hard as high power conference FBS football players do, you can probably drink just about any kind of milk as a recovery beverage.

But things got “chippy” on the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday morning when the host made a joke about the kind of milk Harbaugh’s rival’s head coach Urban Meyer (and co.) drink while Harbaugh was talking about their milk dispensers at the Michigan facilities.

Patrick: “Urban Meyer drinks one percent, by the way. *laughing*”

Harbaugh: “Well ... We refuse to drink the candy-ass skim milk or one-percent. We refuse.”

Harbaugh was clearly in on the gag, but it’s worth a view none the less:

While Harbaugh clearly had no problem trash talking the healthier milk options, perhaps he needs a refresher on the specifics of what he’s endorsed recently:

LACTOSE INTOLERANCE IS WEAKNESS, COACH.

We had reasonable questions about how good these Buckeyes were. Now we know.

After losing over a dozen players to the NFL just months ago, football analysts are in awe of the level to which Ohio State is currently playing.

Scott Van Pelt spent over two minutes on SportsCenter’s “1 Big Thing” talking about how impressive the Buckeyes are at simply reloading the talent that left, and seemingly avoiding an understandable regression with so many young players — over 40% of the roster are freshman.

Ohio State has proven that they can withstand a mass talent exodus and not only survive, but get better. With only three games under their belt, there is still a lot of room for improvement, which should be scary for other teams to think about.

ohio-state-buckeyes-grooms-cake.full_-150x150.jpg

The Buckeye Battle Cry is now 10 years old. Holy crap.

Being a father of a vocal and creative 9 year old, I can easily say that tBBC doesn’t act a day over 6.

As the guy who coined the “tBBC” nomenclature and who herded the cats the longest, ten years is simply unbelievable to me. However you want to define “unbelievable” is probably appropriate.

Take Me To Church

My time at the mothership was, quite simply, some of the most enjoyable and exciting that I can remember; simply indescribable. From the humble origins through transitions to various blogging networks (including a loose amalgamation of the Buckeye Bloggers Network), my life has been blessed with amazing and proud scarlet and gray memories.

Here are a few areas that I’ll be telling my grandkids about as we celebrate Urban Meyer’s 15th national title sometime in the future:

Game Highlights: Our first day of our relationship with SBN was the day that I covered the Rose Bowl victory over Oregon for the site, bringing a unique look to our “Shots From The…” series. I was blessed to be able to do it again during a long homecoming weekend in Lincoln Nebraska in 2011, including some soul searching for the season of transition.

2012 resulted in a better contest to be the correspondent for, as the undefeated season wrapped up while I watched the good guys win The Game. The following year took me to Berkley, where an actual person who actually read the site knew me and seemed to get excited when I introduced myself in the stands.

And then, to be in the locker room for the Los Angeles run of the Aaron Craft/Deshaun Thomas team’s NCAA hopes… Whenever they let me out of the blogger basement, it was always to somewhere amazing.

Favorite Articles: While my lengthy expositions on the state of the College Football Postseason/Playoffs/Bowls and realities of the finances for the NCAA and member institutions eventually became a part of a massive paper in my PhD program (not so humble brag), the two series that I enjoyed the most are different ones.

Early in my tenure on the site, the “Games From Obscurity” posts that highlighted a clash of small schools made for some of the most ridiculous and random parts of my week (as well as strengthening Eric and my status as closeted Mount Union bloggers).

But the Sunday night/Monday morning “The Week That Were” reviews of the contests and storylines from the previous Saturday helped me bide the time until Thursday night’s games.

And it helped to use up my enormous stockpile of bullet points.

Proudest Moments: Like any parent of a 10 year old, there have been a number of moments that I was especially proud to work on the site.

Hello, Huskers

First, we were the website that broke the news that Nebraska was joining the B1G; forcing UNL to make the announcement much earlier than they’d wanted, and leading to Tom Osborne calling an emergency athletic department meeting. I was on vacation with my Cornhusker in-laws, and the idea that I was part of making Husker History was pretty amazing. And a little awkward, to be honest.

I was also proud of tBBC during the difficult winter, spring, and summer of 2011, as Tat-Gate changed the face of the Ohio State Program. While I think no one would have preferred to have that story to cover, I’m proud that our website never shut down. In fact, I believe that we did some of the most in-depth coverage and analysis of the facts and repercussions that emerged. Eric’s articles comparing the violations and sanctions of Ohio State and many other schools infractions to this day is one of the most thorough expose of the seeming arbitrariness that the Committee on Infractions’ decisions were based on. And his work didn’t even cover the Penn State or Baylor situations, or any of the other “scandals” that are becoming less and less scandalous every day.

I also love the work that Joe Dexter has done with the various podcasts on the site. I’ve said this to multiple people… he’s the best in the blogging business at covering the story, including his guests and co-hosts, and making it sound as professional as if it had been done at one of the major networks. He somehow makes the sound of my typing while recording with he and Clair not be too intrusive.

Challenges: With the good also came the bad… Words cannot describe how difficult it was for me when our friend Jason Winrow passed away in his sleep; he was a great Buckeye and an even bigger hearted man. I also hated that Dexter’s first day on the blog was the Memorial Day Massacre, when Jim Tressel “resigned” in 2011.

But the decision a few years ago to step away from the site was probably the most challenging of all. Life happens, responsibilities and priorities change, but it’s never easy to move away from something that you’ve loved for so long. Knowing it was in good hands made it easier, as well as knowing that I could always have a place to return should the opportunity and itch arise. I hope that these moments of reminiscence doesn’t screw that up.

tBBC, After The Game 2012

How Firm Thy Friendships: I never would have guessed that Jeff’s faith in me so many years ago would have led to opportunities to make such amazing friends. This platform allowed for me to meet folks from around Buckeye Nation- Dima, Shannon, Susan, Birm, Robbie, and especially Grant… not to mention some of the fun Buckeye families and alumni that were gracious enough to share their time with me.

It also let me connect with other great past and current members of the Buckeye Battle Cry team, and I’m so thankful that they’re still patient with me. Jeff, James, and Eric and then later Dexter and Ken were encouraging and persevering members of our moderation and leadership team; always good for feedback, to vent, and even to share major life moments with. I still can’t believe that what started out with a Bull Durham reference led to officiating a wedding that included lyrics from Carmen Ohio in the message. Did I mention that it was in Detroit… in front of a bunch of Spartan and Wolverine fans? Man, I love these guys.

Always A Great Day To Be A Buckeye

But, as always, I’m most thankful for you… the readers and regulars who allowed me to be a part of your Buckeye experience. While I can find pretty much any reason to rant and write online, I’ve been honored to have been entrusted to have been welcomed into your home and on your electronic devices.

So here’s to another 10 years of tBBC… even though I’m “just” a reader now, I can’t tell you how excited I am about the current crop of writers and participants. They’ve got a great core of “old timers” and are bringing young guns with new ideas and perspectives to coverage of the greatest college athletic department in the country.

And I’m damned lucky to have laid the foundation for these folks. Go Bucks!

A top recruit in 2018 ranks the Buckeyes high on his list.

Ohio State is entering a bye week following a terrific win this past weekend. While the players will have some time off, the Buckeye coaching staff is using this time to recruit. It is this dedication that has kept this program among the elites year after year.

Five-star S is big on the Buckeyes

With limited space in the 2017 recruiting class, Ohio State has started working on next year’s class. One of the prospects the Buckeyes seem to be most interested in is five-star safety, Jaiden Woodbey (Upland, CA / St. John Bosco).

Woodbey is regarded as one of the best players in his class, currently 247Sports has him listed at No. 26 overall. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety holds nearly 20 scholarship offers and that number will only increase in the next year.

Fortunately for the Buckeyes, Adam Gorney of Rivals.com reported Monday, that both Ohio State and LSU are the two programs “standing out most” to him right now.

2018 four-star ATH Jaiden Woodbey says #LSU and #OhioState are standing out most in his recruitment pic.twitter.com/XAXhNdp1wb

— Adam Gorney (@adamgorney) September 19, 2016

USC and Washington are also looked at as potential landing spots for the elite prospect.

Buckeyes building relationship with four-star WR

Ohio State has done a great job at bringing in blue-chip prospects at the wide receiver position of late. With top-five WRs Trevon Grimes (Fort Lauderdale, FL / St. Thomas Aquinas) and Tyjon Lindsey (Las Vegas, NV / Bishop Gorman) committed to the 2017 class, it seems the Buckeyes may have found a WR for 2018.

Brennan Eagles (Houston, TX / Alief Taylor) is a rather new name to the college football recruiting landscape. He emerged during spring and summer camps which led to scholarship offers from some of the country’s top programs, including the like of USC, Michigan State, Houston, Alabama and Texas.

While he hasn’t received an official scholarship offer from Ohio State yet, it seems the Buckeyes are still showing interest in the four-star prospect. Eagles spoke to Nick Krueger of RIvals.com over the weekend and told him that he has been building a relationship with Ohio State.

Eagles is a tall receiver but is lanky in size. He stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 202 pounds. He is deceivingly quick on the football field and possesses the athleticism to jump up and make impressive catches. With more than a year left of high school football remaining, he has plenty of time to put on weight and become an elite red zone target.

Look for the Buckeyes to continue to show interest in Eagles and if the continue to like what they see, expect an offer sooner rather than later.

Buckeye Basketball busy recruiting

The Ohio State basketball coaching staff is busy on the recruiting trail as well. Andrew Slater of 247Sports reported that the Buckeyes visited four-star small forward Nojel Eastern (Evanston, IL / Evanston Township).

Ohio State's full staff had an in-home visit with 6'6" 4 @NEblessed_20 yesterday. West Virginia will be in today. pic.twitter.com/G4QphNIcry

— Andrew Slater (@ASlater247) September 19, 2016

Eastern is one of 247Sports top 70 players of the 2017 class and is seen as the third best player in the state of Illinois. Combined with 2017 center commit Kaleb Wesson (Westerville, OH / Westerville South), the Buckeyes would have a promising front court with the addition of Eastern.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Michigan State is the favorite to land the 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward – and he is set to visit the school this weekend. However, there is still plenty of time for Matta and the Buckeyes to win him over.

Matta and the Buckeyes weren’t finished yet, though. Zach Fleer reported late Monday afternoon that the coaching staff would be attending Pickerington Central’s game Monday night to watch a couple of promising, young talents from Columbus in Jeremiah Francis and Sterling Manley.

Ohio State and Georgetown will be in at Pickerington Central tonight to evaluate '17 PF/C Sterling Manley.

— Zach Fleer (@ZachFleer270) September 19, 2016

Ohio State will also be evaluating '19 Pickerington Central PG Jeremiah Francis. Buckeyes have been in on Francis for years.

— Zach Fleer (@ZachFleer270) September 19, 2016

Francis, a three-star point guard, is the No. 2 overall player in the state of Ohio for the 2019 recruiting class. The Buckeyes are currently seen as the favorites to land him, as Fleer notes the school has been interested in him for years. However, the school is currently competing with West Virginia, Ohio University and Texas for his commitment.

Francis’ teammate Manley is a member of the 2017 recruiting class and has offers from programs such as West Virginia, Xavier, Creighton, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Pitt.

The 6-foot-10, 230-pound PF/C does not yet hold an offer from the Buckeyes, but following a good showing, one offer may follow. Make sure to stay with Land-Grant Holy Land for the latest on all thing Ohio State recruiting.

The Buckeye alum and 3 teammates raised fists in the air on Monday Night Football.

Before kickoff on this week’s edition of Monday Night Football, former standout Ohio State defensive back Malcolm Jenkins joined three of his Philadelphia Eagles teammates in raising their fists while the national anthem was played.

Jenkins, cornerback Ron Brooks, and defensive ends Steven Means and Marcus Smith all made the gesture, joining a rising movement of quiet protest that has engulfed the NFL’s discourse this season.

While the reasons for the protest begun by Colin Kaepernick have gotten muddied in conversations about the sanctity of the American flag, the American military, and various other tangentially related topics, Kaepernick made his own reasons for kneeling during the anthem—police brutality against black citizens, and other racial inequalities that persist in America—quite clear from the beginning. Jenkins is following suit.

Per SB Nation’s Jeanna Thomas, Jenkins told a radio show this week that “for me, it has nothing to do with this country or the flag or the anthem in itself...it's just to continue to push forward the conversation about social injustice, and that's a range of things from police brutality to wages and job opportunities, education.” Thomas reported that Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was aware of the players’ plan to raise their fists, and respected their decision to do so.

The gesture from Jenkins and his teammates seems especially pointed given today’s headline-making revelations regarding the death of Terence Crutcher, an unarmed black man recently killed by a Tulsa police officer after his car broke down on the side of the road.

Jenkins played football for Ohio State from 2005-2008. He won the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the country’s most outstanding defensive back, following his senior season. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints and later signed with the Eagles.

The Buckeye Battle Cry has recently reached a milestone for the site. Over the weekend of the Oklahoma game, the Facebook page reached 10,000 likes. With reaching that milestone, we wanted to spend a little time interviewing the writers and editors of the Best Damn Website out there.

To get things started, I sat down and talked with Ben van Ooyen, Editor and Recruiting Guru here at The BBC. Ben has been a lifelong Buckeye fan, and has been writing about the Buckeyes for a few years now.

It was great getting to know another member of our team, for me personally, especially one that is the same age as I am, and who went through a lot of similar experiences with the OSU teams of the early 2000s when we both were in college.

Ben tells a great story of his experience after the 2002 National Championship Team, and I had to laugh because I can’t even imagine being at a campus bookstore the day after the Bucks brought home the trophy. And getting to hear the stories of what made him a Buckeye fan really helped bring back memories that even I had started to lose about that time.

As for current events, Ben picked the Huskers and Buckeyes to play for the B1G championship, with the Bucks winning. He also thinks Alabama, OSU, Louisville, and Houston/Michigan will make up the College Playoff this year.

Like a lot of people not based out of AA, Ben isn’t sold on Michigan this year just yet, but was really impressed with Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals.

As Ben says in his BBC bio: “Ben Van Ooyen is a graduate of The Ohio State University class of 2004. Ben has followed Ohio State sports for as long as he can remember, as his dad and his brothers all attended Ohio State and ingrained it into him at an early age how important it was. Ben has become a bit of a recruiting junkie over the past 10 years or so, and follow it religiously. He has written for Scout and for MotSaG in the past, and is happy to have joined tBBC as a recruiting analyst/editor! GO BUCKS!”

Thanks again to Ben for spending some time talking with me today. If you haven’t followed Ben on twitter, you are missing out on a wealth of knowledge, both on the play of the Buckeyes, and the recruitment of future stars of the Scarlet and Gray.

Yeah, they are that good.

“A 45-24 victory against Oklahoma served mostly as an introduction: Meet the new Buckeyes, same as the old Buckeyes--unless maybe they’re better.”

-George Schroeder, USA TODAY Sports

Any doubts about the unproven talent on the Ohio State Buckeyes squad have been officially nullified after an electric performance by many of the Buckeyes’ young stars on both sides of the ball, but perhaps none more so than sophomore receiver Noah Brown, who was expected to be a standout receiver last season prior to breaking his leg in fall camp. Brown’s four touchdown passes tie him for first all-time at Ohio State for receiving touchdowns in a single game, along with Dane Sanzenbacher, Terry Glenn and Bob Grimes, and his over-the-back touchdown catch Saturday is almost assuredly going to be one of the best catches of the 2016 season.

Alongside Brown, junior H back Curtis Samuel continued to deliver on what we saw in the first two games of the season, adding 98 yards and a touchdown on the ground and 20 yards receiving to his total.

But Brown and Samuel at least had seen the field prior to this season. Samuel backed Ezekiel Elliott for the last two seasons, and Brown caught a single pass in 2014 for nine yards against Illinois. However, the same cannot be said for all of the players in the roster. Of the 74 players who traveled to Norman for Saturday’s matchup, 30 were either redshirt or true freshmen last season. And while the team’s victories over Bowling Green and Tulsa were decisive, questions remained about how the group would react when faced with a quality opponent.

Now, however, the Buckeyes have defeated an Oklahoma team which was no doubt overrated prior to the start of the season, but still returns many of the key pieces of its playoff-contending squad from 2015. The disparity in talent was readily apparent Saturday, and evidence of Urban Meyer’s legendary recruiting prowess, enabling the Buckeyes to reload each season rather than rebuild on off-years.

“The Punter from Down Under averaged 50.6 yards per punt and allowed zero return yards on the night.”

-D.J. Byrnes, Eleven Warriors

Several Buckeyes have earned weekly honors following Ohio State’s decimation of Oklahoma Saturday, including Australian senior punter Cameron Johnston, who was named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week. Johnston averaged 50.6 yards on five punts on the night, including a 68-yard effort following Ohio State’s first possession, which pinned the Sooners down at their own 11-yard line. All of Johnston’s punts landed inside of Oklahoma’s 20, providing a critical field position advantage for the Buckeyes as the Sooners started their drives at their own 11, 14, 12 10 and 1 yard lines following an Ohio State punt. Johnston, who has already graduated from Ohio State, currently leads the Big Ten in punting and is second in the NCAA. Last season, Johnston finished second in the conference with a 43.9 yard average on his way to being named a Ray Guy Award semifinalist for the second consecutive year. Johnston was also listed on this year’s preseason watch list for the award.

Alongside Johnston, junior quarterback J.T. Barrett was named to the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Great 8 list following his four-touchdown performance Saturday (Noah Brown earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors, having caught all four of Barrett’s touchdown passes). Barrett had 152 yards through the air on 14 completions and 74 yards on the ground as he led the Buckeyes to 3-0 in Norman. Barrett now has 10 passing touchdowns on the season, which is just one score shy of last year’s mark, with just one interception. He has also rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns so far this year.

“We want to take the approach that we want to get better every week. Once we get rolling, I feel like we’re going to be pretty damn good.”

-Ohio State safety Malik Hooker, via Brian Bennett, ESPN

As impressive as Ohio State has been thus far this year, the even more impressive thing is that they still have a lot of room to grow and improve throughout the remainder of the 2016 season. While some expected the matchup against Oklahoma to be a wake up call for the young team, many of whom were playing away from home for the first time in one of the toughest venues in college football, the Buckeyes showed few signs of weakness, earning one of the most impressive road wins this season in Norman.

The Buckeyes did not allow a single offensive touchdown this season until well into the first quarter Saturday. Already, Ohio State has outscored its opponents a whopping 170-37, including four touchdowns on defense on nine total interceptions--all against teams ranking in the top 25 FBS for total offense in 2015. The defensive secondary has been especially surprising. After losing Eli Apple, Darron Lee and Tyvis Powell to the NFL, Malik Hooker, Marshon Lattimore and Damon Webb have been outstanding against the pass. And it turns out that this group is deeper than expected. After the loss of cornerback Gareon Conley--the only returning starter from 2015 in the unit--Denzel Ward proved he was more than up to the task.

And they are still learning.

The few errors noted on offense, including receivers lining up in the wrong formation, false starts and delay of game penalties, are sure to improve as the season goes on and the inexperienced units continue to gel, especially with the upcoming bye week.

With the win over Oklahoma, Ohio State now has a 20.6 percent probability of winning out the season, behind only Alabama. Despite tough tests against Wisconsin, Michigan State and Michigan at the tail end of the season, the Buckeyes can continue to build on their impressive start and improve even more throughout conference play.

Verizon unlimited data plans changing in July

Appears to, but that's without knowing what the next great phone/plan/carrier 12 months from now will be. If the iPhone 8 comes with a complimentary blow job from Lily the AT&T girl, you'll really be kicking yourself being locked in on the 7.
I'll pay the penalty to get out. I'm not Iowa.
