Let your voice be heard and vote for the MVP of the Week.
We have a new MVP, folks. After dominating the recent polls, future Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell’s dominance of the
Land-Grant Holy Land Player of the Week award is over.
Locking in 26% of your votes last week, OSU class of 2017 defensive end pledge Chase Young walked away with a close MVP victory over his soon-to-be Buckeye teammates Tate Martell (24%), Antjuan Simmons (23%), Shaun Wade (20%), and Brian Snead (6%).
Most of the commits were back in action over the weekend. While some of the future Buckeyes night didn’t go as planned, some shined under the lights against some stiff competition.
Which Ohio State commit did enough to grab your MVP vote this go around? The poll is now open. Let your voice be heard and vote for your Future Buckeye of the Week.
Tate Martell
Just like nearly every week this season, Martell put up some rather eye popping numbers leading Bishop Gorman (NV) to another victory.
In light duty, the four-star signal caller once again did damage with not just his arm, but also his legs. In the 71-0 blow-out win over Desert Oasis (NV) on Friday, Martell completed 8 out of 10 passing attempts for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while carrying the ball for another 84 yards and two more Bishop Gorman scores.
Haskell Garrett
Martell wasn’t the only Ohio State commit for Bishop Gorman who made their presence felt during the Gaels shutout win over Desert Oasis.
Garrett, a 2017 defensive lineman, found himself around the ball a matter of times, ending his time on the field with two sacks and a forced fumble that was recovered by Bishop Gorman in the endzone for a touchdown.
Antjuan Simmons
The future Buckeye was a bright spot for Pioneer all Friday evening. Playing all over the field, Simmons came up big on both sides of the ball.
On offense playing in the back field, the soon-to-be Buckeye linebacker scored a rushing touchdown and also threw for another Ann Arbor (MI) Pioneer score. Helping pace the 30-13 win over Ypsilanti (MI), Simmons, who finished with numerous tackles, also returned an inception to pay dirt.
Brian Snead
Snead, a class of 2018 pledge, only carried the ball twice all evening, but the four-star running back sure made them count.
Rolling past King (FL), 41-0, Snead ended his short night with over 90 rushing yards and a pair of Armwood (FL) touchdowns, including a 66- yard scoring run on the Hawks first offensive play from scrimmage.
Shaun Wade
Taking on powerhouse prep program IMG Academy (FL), Wade and Trinity Christian gave it their all but came up on the short end of the stick on Friday against the Ascenders.
Even though the Conquerors didn’t pick up the win, falling to IMG 34-21 on Friday, Wade showed why he’s rated a five-star prospect against his future Ohio State teammates Marcus Williamson, Isaiah Pryor, and many other elite recruits on the IMG roster.
Making a number of catches playing wide receiver, Wade finished with over 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns on offense. At cornerback, the position he line up at on the college level, Shaun had four total tackles and also intercepted a pass in the nationally televised loss to IMG Academy.
