Urban Coyotes

Just about all the scottish terriers are capable of a good fight! That doesn't mean a hungry coyote won't try. There is a story of a westie who was with a homeless man in LA who fought off a coyote.

OTOH, never attempt to deal with raccoons by using your dog, no matter how big or tough you think it is. You're very likely to end up with a dead or maimed dog than a solution to your problem.

Also, 9 future members of the Buckeyes are descending upon San Antonio to play amongst the best from the country.

Hello everyone, and welcome to a new year! 2017 ended with the Ohio State Buckeyes taking home the Cotton Bowl Classic—and flattening the USC Trojans, a team that has beaten the Buckeyes 7 straight times prior to Friday night.

The win got the attention of social media, as some future Buckeyes made their remarks about the game.

— Dallas Gant (@dallas_gant) December 30, 2017

Dallas Gant appeared to make his tweet sometime in the second quarter. There was quite a bit of action in the first half, most notably Damon Webb’s pick-6 of USC quarterback Sam Darnold.

After the game, the feedback began to pour in.

USC just simply aint have enough ‍♂️

— tyreke johnson (@Im_showtime_) December 30, 2017

USC may have outgained Ohio State in yardage, but their four turnovers proved to be costly. Tyreke Johnson chimed in by saying the Trojans didn’t “have enough” to beat the Buckeyes. (He wasn’t wrong.)

This my last time watching tOSU on TV for a while , next time I’ll be suited up out there with em .. crazy

— 7ERADJA (@WhosThatNumber7) December 30, 2017

Reflecting while also looking forward, Teradja Mitchell witnessed his last game before he gets the opportunity to put on the Scarlet and Gray.

Our D Line is something different..

— Ruck (@Jeremy_Ruckert1) December 30, 2017

Jeremy Ruckert may be one of the best tight ends in the country, but he also recognizes the best, too. His tweet about the defensive line was on point, as Darnold spent a fair bit of time pulling himself off the turf. Ohio State recorded eight sacks in the Cotton Bowl. Buckeye defensive lineman Sam Hubbard tied his single-game high of 2.5 sacks in Friday’s bowl game.

Ohio State’s D Line and O Line completely dominated them Jesus

— T H E J I A N T (@Jackthejiant) December 30, 2017

Even though he flipped away from Ohio State and USC, Jackson Carman, who signed his letter of intent with the Clemson Tigers, even admitted that the Bucks dominated the Pac-12 champions.

Can the 6th get here?

With the 2017 season now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to shift the focus to 2018. And already on the first day, we’ll get a glimpse of what some of the new members of the Scarlet and Gray will bring to the table. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl takes place on Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. ET on NBC.

Ohio State’s graphic design team pulled off another stunner with this nifty breakdown of where the nine selectees of the bowl come from.

As you can tell: they are from all over the country.

Wide receiver Kamryn Babb, linebacker Dallas Gant, running back Jaelen Gill, safety Tyreke Johnson, safety Josh Proctor, tight end Jeremy Ruckert, defensive tackle Tommy Togiai, offensive tackle Max Wray, and defensive tackle Taron Vincent make up the field of future Buckeyes.

According to a tweet by Ruckert, it appears that he’s already in the Lone Star State in preparation for the game.

Little delay during the layover but finally just landed in San Antonio!! Can’t wait to see what this bowl is all about!! #ArmyBowl

— Ruck (@Jeremy_Ruckert1) December 31, 2017

Another marquee event that showcases talent is the Under Armour All-American Game. (And again, the creative minds at Ohio State put together a graphic for this game.) So far, four members of the Buckeyes’ future will be in the game. Cornerback Sevyn Banks, offensive lineman Matthew Jones, linebacker Teradja Mitchell, and running back Brian Snead make up OSU’s representation down in Orlando.

Best of luck to our guys @BanksNiko @GrindTime55 @WhosThatNumber7 @snead655 in the Under Armour All-American Game! ⭕#GoBucks pic.twitter.com/g7891hB8ii

— Ohio State Football (@OhioStateFB) December 31, 2017

If you want to catch the Under Armour All-American Game, you can tune into ESPN2 on Jan. 4. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. ET.

North Carolina vs. Ohio State, Saturday, 1:30 PM, CBS

The guys are playing hard
Do not tell Holtman this because he was very unhappy with the effort that they put forth against Fredo yesterday.
OSU went through some two-a-day practices following the North Carolina loss a week ago. Saturday, Holtmann said after the Buckeyes defeated Miami that he was not thrilled with some of the practices.

The warning signs he saw came true in the second half as Ohio State's 17-point lead was cut down to just three.

"I thought at times, more than at times, they were more physical than we were," Holtmann said. "We've got to answer the bell better than we did today in terms of just playing with more physicality.

Tommy Nappier got the start in net as OSU won their 4th in a row

Ohio State really is starting to look like the top-10 team the USCHO.com poll declared they were. They defeated a Niagara team they are supposed to defeat and did it with their backup goalie in.

The No. 9 Ohio State hockey team took down Niagara for the second straight night, winning 4-1 in front of backup goalie Tommy Nappier. Niagara kept it close for at least one period, but OSU went up two in the second and iced it with another in the third.

Matt Miller got it started just one minute into the first, with assists from Mason Jobst and Michael Rounds, and Matthew Weis doubled the lead almost exactly six minutes later at the 7:02 mark. Ronnie Hein and Tanner Laczynski had the assists on Weis’ goal. Rounds and Hein combined to play nine games before this weekend but were putting up points on Niagara. Depth, baby.

Nick Farmer got Niagara on the board with 34 seconds left in the first but that’d be all they’d get. OSU outshot Niagara 16-12 in the first despite being up for 19 minutes of the period anyway and poured it on some more in the second.

They outshot the visitors 16-4 in the second and added another goal from Weis at 14:01 of the second. Hein and Jobst added the assists, each gaining their second helpers of the night.

The third would be more Niagara heavy, as they made their final push down two goals, and outshot the Buckeyes 12-7, but they wouldn’t be able to add another and halve the OSU lead. John Wiitala scored the only goal of the period, for OSU, at 2:15, with Hein registering his third assist of the game. He had one assist this season coming into this series.

That’d be it for the scoring in this relatively uneventful, domination by the Buckeyes. Nappier stopped all twelve shots in the third and ended up stopping 27/28 shots for a sterling .964 save percentage.

But you still have to play the games; it doesn’t show up as a dominant win just because it should. Ohio State did play the games and looked just as good as they should’ve this weekend. They swept a team they should sweep and improved their record to 12-4-4.

That’s all you can ask for, and to do it in front of your backup freshman goalie in the second and more dominant win? Hardly anything more you could ask for.

There’s not much else to say in this one. Ohio State outplayed a team they were supposed to outplay and put this one away relatively early. They didn’t sit back quite like the football team did against USC after going up 17-0, but it was nearly as uneventful after OSU scored the third goal.

The Buckeyes move back to the conference schedule next year (i.e. next week) as they travel to East Lansing for their first games of the 2018 calendar year.

MSU sits at just 2-7-1-1 in conference heading into next weekend while the Bucks sit second in the conference (and five back in the win column of first place Notre Dame). OSU will look to win the series next weekend and keep their current number two seed in conference.

There’s nothing but conference games from hereon out. Go Bucks.
