The Buckeyes have a new name worth watching at receiver in this cycle after offering a four-star talent.

With just a few short weeks to go before fall camp kicks off, and then the season itself shortly thereafter, Ohio State is chomping at the bit to get underway and unveil this revamped roster, hungry to right the ship after coming up short the last couple of seasons.

Recruiting wise, there’s plenty of big developments still to come. While that should tide you over until the first game, know this staff is working tirelessly both on the trail building the future roster and also prepping the current squad for a major 2024 campaign.

Buckeyes offer new name in the 2025 class

An impressive group with three guys currently committed, Ohio State’s 2025 class at the receiver position doesn’t necessarily look like the classes of the past few years. Crazy to think about the run Brian Hartline has gone on, the Buckeyes missed out on some of the highest ranked receivers nationally, but still have two of the top-30 players at the position committed in addition to a freakishly athletic Ohio native.

Wanting to add another player to the mix, Ohio State has a couple of names still in the running for one final spot. On Wednesday, the staff added a new one to the list after offering their latest target in the 2025 class courtesy of Utah native, Jerome Myles.

A 6-foot-2, 205 pound athlete, Myles is a bigger receiver that has all of the tools to line up both inside and outside at his position. The No. 76 player nationally and 11th best receiver in the country per the 247Sports Composite, Ohio State is definitely late to the party offering this far into the current cycle. However, if Hartline is at the forefront of the recruitment, it certainly means something moving forward.

Having nearly 30 offers to his name from the likes of Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, and plenty others, Myles is slated for his next major recruiting development this coming weekend, as he plans to see Michigan for an official visit.

It won’t be easy to jump atop of the leaderboard this late into the game, but if anyone can, it’s Hartline and Ohio State. The Buckeyes want at least one more receiver in this 2025 class, and they’ll continue their pursuit until it’s done. Other names worth keeping an eye on include Phillip Bell and Preston Bowman.

Quick Hits

  • Last week five-star in-state target Trey McNutt chose to postpone his commitment date, where Oregon was thought to be destination. Pushing the commitment date for any number of reasons is what you’d want to see if the Buckeyes were to still have a shot at this one, and even if a potential commitment comes to a different school, Ohio State is likely to host McNutt this fall as he’s planned on still taking an official visit to Columbus for some time now.

While the staff awaits his decision and visit plans, McNutt is still very much staying active in his recruitment, and has plans to see both Texas A&M and Oregon in the coming days. Ohio State hasn’t been in the headlines much when it comes to McNutt, and though this fall can change that, it would be a surprise to see him choose to stay close to home when this commitment is made on Aug. 3.

Five-star safety Trey McNutt is expected at Texas A&M Wednesday - Friday.

He will then visit Oregon from Friday - Sunday. #GigEm VIP: https://t.co/EaS3qIBR2I#Ducks VIP: https://t.co/zz4xHm3eac@247Sports pic.twitter.com/H1TsaFGHrl
