With wins over Nebraska and Wisconsin, the No. 1 Ohio State men’s tennis team clinched their 18th consecutive Big Ten title over the weekend, with a record of 27-1 (9-0 in conference play).
They started the weekend with a 6-1 victory on the road in Lincoln, Nebraska, Friday night, with doubles wins from Robert Cash and Bryce Nakashima, along with Andrew Lutschaunig and Justin Boulais. Cash’s doubles win was the 139th of his career, which, funnily enough, ties him with Nebraska interim head coach Peter Kobelt—an OSU alum—for most in school history. Cash was the lone Buckeye to win both a singles and a doubles point, with other singles victories coming from Cannon Kingsley, JJ Tracy, Jack Anthrop, and Alexander Bernard.
Friday’s win secured a share of the Big Ten title, but the outright title came Sunday, in a 7-0 sweep of Wisconsin. Their streak is now the second-longest in any sport in the Big Ten, topped only by Iowa’s 25 consecutive wrestling titles from 1974-1998.
Cash and Tracy’s doubles win put Cash at 140 career doubles wins, edging him past Kobelt for most doubles wins in program history. Wisconsin had to forfeit the second doubles match due to injury, giving the Buckeyes the doubles point.
In singles, Wisconsin also forfeited two matches, giving the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead. Tracy added to his doubles win with a singles victory, and other singles wins were recorded by Bernard, Kingsley, and Anthrop, bringing Bernard and Anthrop to a combined singles record of 43-0 this spring.
The Buckeyes head into the Big Ten Tournament with the No. 1 seed. They will open play against either Wisconsin or Penn State this Friday.
The No. 15 women’s tennis team (17-6, 10-1) posted a pair of wins this weekend to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. They are on a 10-match win streak.
They first faced Northwestern, dropping the doubles point before singles wins from Luciana Perry, Irina Cantos Siemers, Akanksha Bhan, and Shelly Bereznyak bolstered the Bucks to a 4-1 victory. Cantos Siemers and Perry also won their doubles match. Bereznyak is on a 13-match win streak, while Cantos Siemers passed Miho Kowase to become the Buckeyes’ all-time leader in combined singles/doubles wins with 214.
Then it was a victory on Senior Day when the Buckeyes beat Illinois, 4-2, on Sunday. The Buckeyes won the doubles point on victories from Cantos Siemers and Perry, along with Madeline Atway and Alessia Cau. Singles points from Perry and Sydni Ratliff set the stage for Cantos Siemers, the Buckeyes’ all-time leader in singles wins, to bring it home for the win on her Senior Day.
Up next, the women open Big Ten Tournament play in Friday’s quarterfinals. The tournament is being hosted in Ann Arbor.
The baseball team (19-17. 6-6) has been busy, winning two of four in the last week, with Wednesday’s scheduled game at Kent State being postponed.
Up first, the Buckeyes hosted Wright State in a back-and-forth battle of the bats, eking out the win, 14-13, in a game that saw 10 runs scored between both teams in the first inning alone. By the end of the second, the Buckeyes were up, 11-4, before each team put up a pair of runs in the third. The Buckeyes were then held scoreless until the eighth when Wright State tied the game in the top of the inning. The Buckeyes added one more run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.
Trey Lipsey led the Buckeyes with three hits, while Ryan Miller put up a career-high four RBIs. Henry Kaczmar, Matthew Graveline, Tyler Pettorini, Isaac Cadena, Nick Giamarusti, and Miller each added a pair of hits. Closer Justin Eckhardt earned the save.
The boys then headed north to face rivals Michigan in Ann Arbor, dropping the series, 1-2, despite a dominant victory on Saturday. 16-1.
On Friday, the Scarlet and Gray were shut out, 4-0, despite a strong start from pitcher Landon Beidelschies, who struck out two straight in the first. He fell to 4-6 on the mound this season, striking out four and giving up three runs in 5.2 innings pitched.
Ultimately, the Buckeyes had chances in the loss but left too many runners stranded on base, including failing to capitalize on loaded bases in the third.

Saturday was a different story. The Wolverines took an early 1-0 lead. They wouldn’t score again. Ohio State, on the other hand, racked up sixteen runs, with the bulk of the damage happening in the second half of the game. Stevenson, who led the Buckeyes on Friday with two hits, again led the team, this time with a career-high four hits and a career-high five runs, along with two RBIs. Kaczmar, Mitchell Okuley, and Hunter Rosson had two hits apiece, and Kaczmar and Rosson added three RBIs each.
Gavin Bruni (3-2) gave up just one hit and one run in 5.0 innings pitched, striking out six on his way to the recorded win.
Sunday was tied, 1-1, for most of the game, until a pair of runs in the sixth put OSU up 3-1 in the top half of the inning. Michigan answered though, tacking on four of their own to take the lead, which they’d maintain for the rest of the game. Pettorini went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Buckeyes. Gavin DeVooght recorded a no-decision despite throwing a career-high six strikeouts in 5.0 innings pitched. The loss went to Colin Purcell, who pitched for just 0.2 innings but gave up four runs.
The Buckeyes will try to regroup before a rematch against Wright State tonight on the road. They’ll then host Michigan State this weekend in a three-game series.
The Buckeye softball team won seven games in the last eight days after a 6-0 week, bringing them to a 27-17 record.
They kicked things off with a Tuesday doubleheader sweep against Penn State, winning the first game, 16-8, in a six-inning game before a much closer 2-1 victory in the second game of the day. In the first game of the day, senior Kirsten Eppele led the Buckeyes, going 3-for-4 at the plate, with a career-high five RBIs and three runs scored. McKenzie Bump also went 3-for-4, with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. Allison Smith took the win for the Buckeyes, striking out six batters in as many innings.
Later in the day, Penn State held a 1-0 lead through five innings, before Eppele struck once again with an RBI single. The victory came courtesy of a Kami Kortokrax walk-off double to get the winning run home. Kortokrax went 3-for-4 in the game, with two doubles. Emily Ruck pitched for the win, striking out five and walking only two.
The Buckeyes then took the field again Wednesday against Pitt, edging them out, 3-2,, on a rainy night that saw long weather delays. All three of OSU’s runs came in the second inning, despite recording only one hit in the inning, with two runners being walked home with the bases loaded.
The OSU homestand continued into the weekend with a three-game series against Maryland. The Terrapins fell 4-0 in game 1 of the series, 6-3 in game 2, and
In the series opener, Smith pitched the shutout, buoyed to victory by a solo home run from Kortokrax. Bump made it home in the sixth on a walk that saw her advance to second on a sacrifice before two wild pitches brought her in. Sam Hackenbracht added an RBI single, and the final OSU run was walked home with the bases loaded.
On Saturday, Ruck took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, while Taylor Heckman led the Buckeye offense with a solo home run and two RBIs on a single in the fifth. Ruck’s win was her third of the week, with 14 strikeouts and a 2.33 ERA.
Sunday’s 3-2 victory over the Terrapins put the icing on the cake for the weekend, with a two-run homer from Kortokrax in the first inning giving the Buckeyes an early lead. Heckman increased the lead on an RBI single in the fifth, getting Kaitlyn Farley home after she doubled to reach base.
After hitting .500 in six games with two home runs, five RBI, four doubles, and a .529 on-base percentage, Kortokrax was named the Big Ten Player of the Week.
Up next, the Buckeyes will continue their homestand this weekend when they host Illinois for a three-game series, OSU’s final home series of the regular season.
The women’s golf team spent the weekend in Havre de Grace, Maryland, where they finished sixth in the Big Ten Championships.
They finished the weekend with an overall score of 872 (eight-over par), 16 strokes behind winner Indiana.
Individually, Kary Hollenbaugh boasted a Top-10 finish, taking the 10th place spot with one-under 215 over three rounds, along with a team-best 11 birdies.
Now, the Buckeyes wait to hear whether they will make the cut at the NCAA Regionals, which begin Monday, May 6. Selection will take place this Wednesday, April 24.
Closer to home, Ohio State’s men’s golf team finished the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate tournament in Columbus as the runner-up behind Indiana, with a final round total of 291 (22-over par), just three strokes behind Indiana.

Senior Jackson Chandler also finished as the individual runner-up, closing out his collegiate career on the Buckeyes’ home course having finished in the Top 10 in every home outing as a Buckeye.
Adam Wallin also boasted a Top-10 finish, tying Indiana’s Patrick Schmuecking for ninth place.
The Buckeyes will head just up the road to the Scioto Country Club this weekend, Friday-Sunday, for the Big Ten Tournament.
After falling to Rutgers on Senior Day, 13-11, the women’s lacrosse team (8-8) ended their regular season on a high note, defeating Temple on the road, 10-9.
On Friday, OSU and the Scarlet Knights were tied, one-all, at the end of the first quarter, before the Buckeyes opened the second quarter with three goals and took a 7-4 lead into halftime. Though Rutgers got within one, the Buckeyes carried their three-goal lead into the fourth quarter before Rutgers pulled ahead with just 6:30 left in the game for the eventual win.
Leah Sax tied her career-high with four goals, while Annie Hargraves, Jamie Lasda, and Kate Tyack each added a pair. Regan Alexander had 12 saves on goal.
The Buckeyes then hit the road to close the regular season at Temple, a game in which the Buckeyes would not trail after the first quarter. Still, while OSU carried a 7-4 lead into the half, the Owls weren’t going down without a fight, pulling within one in the third quarter and eventually tying the game at nine-all in the fourth.

Zoe Coleman, assisted by Brynn Ammerman, secured the victory for the Buckeyes, with her winning goal coming in the final five minutes of the game. Ammerman led the Buckeyes with four assists and five points, while Hargraves recorded a hat trick and Alexander put up nine saves, with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Up next, the women head into the Big Ten Tournament, where they are a No. 7 seed. They’ll face No. 2 Penn State in the quarterfinals on Saturday at Penn State.
The men’s team (6-8) fell to Michigan at home in their regular-season finale, 13-12. The game was tied at the end of the first, 1-1, and Michigan held a narrow one-goal lead, 6-5, at the half. The Wolverines took their largest lead at the beginning of the fourth, 13-7, and the Buckeyes closed the gap but couldn’t cross the threshold.
Jack McKenna, Matt Caputo, Blake Eiland, and Alex Marinier each scored a pair of goals, marking McKenna’s fourth straight three-point game for the Buckeyes.
Freshman goalie Caleb Fyock had 10 saves, his sixth-straight game with double-digit saves.
The Buckeyes will get a chance at a rematch when they travel to Ann Arbor this weekend to face Michigan in the first round of the 2024 Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday.
The Ohio State Track & Field team put up a strong performance this weekend as hosts of the annual Jesse Owens Classic, claiming three race wins on Friday and 11 more victories on Saturday.
In the men’s 200m, the Buckeyes took the top three spots, with freshman Braxton Brann posting a winning time of 21.08. In the women’s 200m, the Buckeyes claimed three of the top four spots. Junior Leah Bertrand ran with a winning time of 23.57. Senior Chanler Robinson took the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 58.70. OSU also finished with three top-10 finishes in the women’s hammer throw, as well as two top-five finishes in the long jump.
The success continued into Saturday when the Buckeyes claimed victory in men’s and women’s shot put, men’s and women’s discus, men’s and women’s high jump, along with men’s and women’s 4x100 relays and the women’s 100m, 400m, and 800m races.
On the men’s side, Carlos Aviles took the top spot in the discus with his second-longest throw ever (57.63m / 189-01). Senior Hayden Tobias’s throw of 19.87m / 65-02¼ was enough for the top spot in the shot put, and sophomore Reign Winston’s jump of 2.08m / 6-09¾ came out first in the high jump. Nick Biega, Brann, DJ Filmore, and Marcus Brown ran the 4x100m relay with the day’s top time of 40.30.
For the women, Faith Bender won the discus with a throw of 5s5s.23m / 181-02. Lacy Stringer’s 16.12m / 52-10¾ throw took the top spot in the shot put, with Bender and Howey both finishing in the top five. Senior Amaya Ugarte secured the high jump victory with a jump of 1.78m / 5-10. Senior Nya Bussey won the 100m race with a season-best time of 11.27, while Fatouma Conde won the 400m race with a time of 54.86. Aniya Mosley finished on top in the 800m, with a time of 2:06.43. Bussey and Bertrand were joined by Sydney Bryant and Avery Clark in the 4x100m relay, finishing in 44.33 for first.
Up next, the Buckeyes try to extend their success with a trip to the Penn Relays, this Thursday through Saturday.
The No. 12 Ohio State women’s rowing team had a strong showing at the 2024 Big Ten Invite this past weekend, boasting eleven top-2 finishes (out of 21 races) along with three wins. The Buckeyes were one of 18 schools participating in the event, including eight Big Ten schools.
All three of OSU’s wins came from the 3v4 boat, which swept its races. The boat is made up of Iman Sattar, Alexandra Gluntz, Taylor Benedict, Morgan Perce, and Halen Swickard.
The Buckeyes are back on the water this weekend at the Longhorn Invitational on Lake Walter E. Long in Austin, Texas.
The No. 3-seed Buckeyes’ men’s volleyball team (22-8) took home the MIVA Tournament title after a 3-1 win over No. 4 seed Lindenwood last Saturday, dropping the first set, 20-25, before winning the next three consecutive sets with scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-16 respectively.
Redshirt senior Michael Wright was named the MIVA Tournament MVP for the second consecutive year, leading both teams with 45 assists and logging four kills, two blocks, and eight digs in the final match.
Both Jacob Pasteur and Shane Wetzel were named to the MIVA All-Tournament Team. Pasteur led the team in kills Saturday with 18, and Wetzel added 13 of his own.
Cole Young also had a standout match, with seven blocks, six kills, and two digs.
Up next, the Buckeyes will face Grand Canyon (25-4) on April 30 in Long Beach, California, in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Senior Jackson Chandler also finished as the individual runner-up, closing out his collegiate career on the Buckeyes’ home course having finished in the Top 10 in every home outing as a Buckeye.
Adam Wallin also boasted a Top-10 finish, tying Indiana’s Patrick Schmuecking for ninth place.
The Buckeyes will head just up the road to the Scioto Country Club this weekend, Friday-Sunday, for the Big Ten Tournament.
Lacrosse
After falling to Rutgers on Senior Day, 13-11, the women’s lacrosse team (8-8) ended their regular season on a high note, defeating Temple on the road, 10-9.
On Friday, OSU and the Scarlet Knights were tied, one-all, at the end of the first quarter, before the Buckeyes opened the second quarter with three goals and took a 7-4 lead into halftime. Though Rutgers got within one, the Buckeyes carried their three-goal lead into the fourth quarter before Rutgers pulled ahead with just 6:30 left in the game for the eventual win.
Leah Sax tied her career-high with four goals, while Annie Hargraves, Jamie Lasda, and Kate Tyack each added a pair. Regan Alexander had 12 saves on goal.
The Buckeyes then hit the road to close the regular season at Temple, a game in which the Buckeyes would not trail after the first quarter. Still, while OSU carried a 7-4 lead into the half, the Owls weren’t going down without a fight, pulling within one in the third quarter and eventually tying the game at nine-all in the fourth.
Zoe Coleman, assisted by Brynn Ammerman, secured the victory for the Buckeyes, with her winning goal coming in the final five minutes of the game. Ammerman led the Buckeyes with four assists and five points, while Hargraves recorded a hat trick and Alexander put up nine saves, with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Up next, the women head into the Big Ten Tournament, where they are a No. 7 seed. They’ll face No. 2 Penn State in the quarterfinals on Saturday at Penn State.
The men’s team (6-8) fell to Michigan at home in their regular-season finale, 13-12. The game was tied at the end of the first, 1-1, and Michigan held a narrow one-goal lead, 6-5, at the half. The Wolverines took their largest lead at the beginning of the fourth, 13-7, and the Buckeyes closed the gap but couldn’t cross the threshold.
Jack McKenna, Matt Caputo, Blake Eiland, and Alex Marinier each scored a pair of goals, marking McKenna’s fourth straight three-point game for the Buckeyes.
Freshman goalie Caleb Fyock had 10 saves, his sixth-straight game with double-digit saves.
The Buckeyes will get a chance at a rematch when they travel to Ann Arbor this weekend to face Michigan in the first round of the 2024 Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday.
Track & Field
The Ohio State Track & Field team put up a strong performance this weekend as hosts of the annual Jesse Owens Classic, claiming three race wins on Friday and 11 more victories on Saturday.
In the men’s 200m, the Buckeyes took the top three spots, with freshman Braxton Brann posting a winning time of 21.08. In the women’s 200m, the Buckeyes claimed three of the top four spots. Junior Leah Bertrand ran with a winning time of 23.57. Senior Chanler Robinson took the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 58.70. OSU also finished with three top-10 finishes in the women’s hammer throw, as well as two top-five finishes in the long jump.
The success continued into Saturday when the Buckeyes claimed victory in men’s and women’s shot put, men’s and women’s discus, men’s and women’s high jump, along with men’s and women’s 4x100 relays and the women’s 100m, 400m, and 800m races.
On the men’s side, Carlos Aviles took the top spot in the discus with his second-longest throw ever (57.63m / 189-01). Senior Hayden Tobias’s throw of 19.87m / 65-02¼ was enough for the top spot in the shot put, and sophomore Reign Winston’s jump of 2.08m / 6-09¾ came out first in the high jump. Nick Biega, Brann, DJ Filmore, and Marcus Brown ran the 4x100m relay with the day’s top time of 40.30.
For the women, Faith Bender won the discus with a throw of 5s5s.23m / 181-02. Lacy Stringer’s 16.12m / 52-10¾ throw took the top spot in the shot put, with Bender and Howey both finishing in the top five. Senior Amaya Ugarte secured the high jump victory with a jump of 1.78m / 5-10. Senior Nya Bussey won the 100m race with a season-best time of 11.27, while Fatouma Conde won the 400m race with a time of 54.86. Aniya Mosley finished on top in the 800m, with a time of 2:06.43. Bussey and Bertrand were joined by Sydney Bryant and Avery Clark in the 4x100m relay, finishing in 44.33 for first.
Up next, the Buckeyes try to extend their success with a trip to the Penn Relays, this Thursday through Saturday.
Rowing
The No. 12 Ohio State women’s rowing team had a strong showing at the 2024 Big Ten Invite this past weekend, boasting eleven top-2 finishes (out of 21 races) along with three wins. The Buckeyes were one of 18 schools participating in the event, including eight Big Ten schools.
All three of OSU’s wins came from the 3v4 boat, which swept its races. The boat is made up of Iman Sattar, Alexandra Gluntz, Taylor Benedict, Morgan Perce, and Halen Swickard.
The Buckeyes are back on the water this weekend at the Longhorn Invitational on Lake Walter E. Long in Austin, Texas.
Men’s Volleyball
The No. 3-seed Buckeyes’ men’s volleyball team (22-8) took home the MIVA Tournament title after a 3-1 win over No. 4 seed Lindenwood last Saturday, dropping the first set, 20-25, before winning the next three consecutive sets with scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-16 respectively.
️ Redshirt senior Michael Wright was named the MIVA Tournament MVP for the second consecutive year, leading both teams with 45 assists and logging four kills, two blocks, and eight digs in the final match.
Both Jacob Pasteur and Shane Wetzel were named to the MIVA All-Tournament Team. Pasteur led the team in kills Saturday with 18, and Wetzel added 13 of his own.
Cole Young also had a standout match, with seven blocks, six kills, and two digs.
Up next, the Buckeyes will face Grand Canyon (25-4) on April 30 in Long Beach, California, in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Okpara entered the transfer portal over the weekend after originally saying he would be returning to Columbus for his junior season. We discuss what the Buckeyes need to do now with two spots available moving forward, and how to fill those after losing Okpara and Gayle.

Ohio State has had an impressive recruiting stretch this spring. The Buckeyes have earned six verbal commitments in the 2025 class in the last month and a half. The run has Ohio State sitting atop of the 247Sports overall team rankings, and the Buckeyes also have the highest average prospect rating.
A busy spring will continue for the Ohio State coaching staff, who is also working with the current Ohio State football roster in efforts to reach the high expectations set by Buckeye Nation and the college football landscape. The contact period recently began for the 2025 recruiting class, meaning coaches are now able to visit recruits at their high school.
Ohio State’s coaching staff will be traveling across the country, and on Monday they had their eyes set on the Lone Star state. The Buckeyes offered rising 2026 tight end Ryder Mix (Frisco, TX / Lone Star), one day after offering five-star TE Brock Harris.
Mix does not yet have a star ranking from 247Sports, but On3 has him listed as a four-star and the No. 9 TE and the No. 206 overall recruit in the 2026 class. He has also seen an uptick in his recruitment since the turn of the year, receiving offers from the likes of Cal, TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Michigan and now Ohio State.
Ohio State is making tight end a position of importance in next year’s class. Including Mix, the Buckeyes have offered four prospects at the position already. Ohio State also has a verbal commitment from 2025 four-star TE Nate Roberts and is looking to add to that haul. If the Buckeyes are unable to do so, expect the team to make the position even more of a priority for next year’s class.
Currently, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oregon and the newly offered Michigan appear to be the Buckeyes’ biggest competition for Mix, and the Buckeyes will need to get him on campus if they are to remain in the mix.
As was mentioned above, the Buckeyes hold claim to the top spot in the 247Sports overall team rankings for the 2025 class. The team has just one offensive line commitment in the class however, and would like to add multiple more. Fortunately, the sole offensive line pledge for the Buckeyes is four-star OT Carter Lowe.
Ohio State is targeting a handful of prospects along the trenches, and the team learned it recently made the top four schools for a top target in four-star OL Avery Gach (Franklin, MI / Wylie E. Groves) who announced a top four of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin.
Gach has long been a target for the Buckeyes, and he has visited the Ohio State campus on multiple occasions, with the most recent visit being earlier this month. The Buckeyes have been a major contender for Gach throughout most of his recruitment, and have done everything correctly to steal him from their rival, Michigan.
However, the hometown team looks to be the one to beat in his recruitment, holding all of the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.
Gach is the No. 16 IOL in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 240 overall prospect. He is also the No. 2 recruit out of Michigan.
Dye has an official visit planned to Ohio State later this summer, and it will be key for Ohio State if they are to land him.

- As previously mentioned, the open contact period is active for college football recruiting, and the Ohio State coaching staff is busy traversing the country to visit with some of the nation’s best recruits. Ohio State did just that, as Matt Parker of Letterman Row reported that the Buckeyes visited with 2025 priority four-star edge Mariyon Dye (Elkhart, IN / Elkhart).
