A good litmus test is to give her a call and tell her you were just offered a chance to (insert any cool event you would do with your buddies) go to a Cavs game. Ask her if it would be OK if you rescheduled and did Valentines day on a different night. See how she reacts to that. If she is cool with it, you may have a keeper.

Usually with my wife, any time she informs me we have some function, or get together to go to involving her friends, my default answer is that I already have something planned. I then assess the situation and either start busting my ass to make some plans, or agree to go.
