Your computer, you should have total control over it.

I just made a bogus gmail account for whenever I need an email address to sign up for message boards (besides this fine website) or other services. That account now gets thousands of spam messages a week. Gmail filters out about 70-80% of them automatically, but since I never check it, nor use it for anything important, it doesn't matter! Now, my personal email address stays spam free. Don't have to do anything, really.

My laptops wireless just randomly shuts down and when I try and turn it back on it says my computer doesn't have any a/b/g wireless cards supported/found. So I have to shut down my computer for a while (for probably 30 minutes). Then when I turn it back on, it's fine again. I am guessing it only happens when the laptop gets too hot because it usually happens when I'm sitting in the living room watching TV. Anyone know how to fix this, and should I look into this with IBM/Lenovo?

What type of wireless card? USB, PCMCIA, internal mini-PCI?

Where do I find this at?

Edit: Under my Device Manager --> Network Adapters it shows these:

11/a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter
1394 Net Adapter
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet

And yes, everything on this laptop is internal.

I am totally at a loss with my home PC. I have noted on here before that it freezes up and can blue screen from time to time. I have done all of the Malware, registry cleaners, etc. recommended on here and I am still having problems. I have gone through Chkdsk and had it fix things as well.

I had a Windows update error today and came to find out that SP1 had never installed for Windows 7. I have tried every which way to get it installed, but it continues to fail. I have done it manually and through updater. I have gone through and had troubleshooting do a repair on windows update in the control panel. I have done the download and patch for ensuring that windows is able to do updates. Nothing works.

I am getting so [censored]ed with this computer that I am close to Nuking it!!!!

How Apple and Amazon Security Flaws Led to My Epic Hacking

In the space of one hour, my entire digital life was destroyed. First my Google account was taken over, then deleted. Next my Twitter account was compromised, and used as a platform to broadcast racist and homophobic messages. And worst of all, my AppleID account was broken into, and my hackers used it to remotely erase all of the data on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.

In many ways, this was all my fault. My accounts were daisy-chained together. Getting into Amazon let my hackers get into my Apple ID account, which helped them get into Gmail, which gave them access to Twitter. Had I used two-factor authentication for my Google account, it?s possible that none of this would have happened, because their ultimate goal was always to take over my Twitter account and wreak havoc. Lulz.

Had I been regularly backing up the data on my MacBook, I wouldn?t have had to worry about losing more than a year?s worth of photos, covering the entire lifespan of my daughter, or documents and e-mails that I had stored in no other location.

Those security lapses are my fault, and I deeply, deeply regret them.

CONT...

This is what I've been working on for most of the night... un-daisy-chaining my major accounts. I hadn't realized until I read this just how interconnected everything has been for me, and just how vulnerable I am to social engineering hacks.

Fortunately, Amazon has stated that they've made changes that closes the vulnerability was used in this instance. Apple accounts it seems, are still vulnerable. Fortunately, my Apple account is not as interconnected with other services as Honan's was. In this day and age it's probably unreasonable if not impossible to keep everything completely isolated. I am trying though to make sure that my social identity, data and financials are not so interconnected and at least require more time effort or information to get at. It's amazing how much they were able to get at in Honan's case just thru a few simple mouse clicks and phone calls.

Neat little Windows 7 trick for adminstration; create a new folder anywhere and name it:

SuperUser.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

The registry string will be truncated off the folder name after you're done (you could call 'SuperUser' whatever you want, this part is arbitrary). What you will have after doing this though is a Win 7 Control Panel icon that will take you into a system settings folder with every system value organized in tree view.

Could be malware. I would download, install, and run the free version of Malwarebytes to clean it of any malware infections.
