We spent a week on the island of Viequez, Puerto Rico with 4 friends a few years ago. Killer weather, cheap beer/booze, and a different deserted tropical beach each day - and the snorkeling on the west side of the island was amazing.

My in-laws just came back from their 3rd trip there.

My wife went to Vieques about 5 years ago and liked it b/c it was so sparsely populated.

They had an entire beach to themselves.

the family did two weeks on Bald Head Island at Cape Fear.. only access is boat.. only vehicles allowed are bikes and electric carts.. the seclusion enhanced it all.. wonderful bonding experience with my family.. especially my two oldest .. one was midway thru OSU, other HS Sr year... long walks.. long indepth talks.. soul searching... really understanding where their heads were at... and getting pulled over twice by island cops while letting my then 11 year old drive around midnight is a story we'll tell for decades...

Thus far two are tied.

1. Honeymoon in Maui.

2. Two week trip to Italy: Flew into Naples, rented a car and did three nights in Positano with side trips to Pompeii and Pasteum, 4 nights at two different places in Tuscany with various day trips to hill towns, two nights in Sestri Levante (Italian Riviera) with a visit to the Cinque Terre, and three nights in the heart of Florence.

My wife and I haven't been on a real vacation since our honeymoon which was in Niagra falls and then in Toronto.

Anytime we take a vacation now it's back to Columbus to catch a game and then Cleveland to see family.
