YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

The record for most HPB in a single season (in the modern era) is 50 by Montreal Expo Ron Hunt in 1971.

Guyer is currently "enjoying" the 8th-best season of all-time with 29 HBP.

Hunt had 638 PA's and got hit at a rate of 1 HBP per 12.76 per... (With 58 walks and a .358 OBP)

Guyer has 308 PA's and is getting hit at a rate of 1 HBP per 10.6 PA (He only has 17 walks and a .365 OBP. And .441 in 20 games with the Tribe)

Hunt is clearly just a compiler.

Guyer's OBP with the Indians (.441) is higher that his Slugging (.438).

Hunt's OBP was .402 in 1971: (145 hits + 58 BB + 50 HBP) / (638 PA - 8 SAC) = .402 OBP

OBP = (Hits + Walks + Hit by Pitch) / (At Bats + Walks + Hit by Pitch + Sacrifice Flies)

or

OBP = (Hits + Walks + Hit by Pitch) / (Plate Appearances - Sacrifice Bunts)

Apparently my eyes sild over to SLG% -- most likely in my feeble mind I wasn't expecting that to be lower than his OBP as well.

More bullpen shuffle. Armstrong optioned back down. Perci Garner called up for his first cup o' tea in the majors

Garner, a former 2nd round pick by Philly, signed last year by the Indians as a minor league FA, has been a wildly inconsistent pitcher in his minor league career.....seemingly "putting it together" more this year with a 2.06 ERA in 78 2/3 innings between Akron and Columbus.

Interesting move, not sure why they keep floating Armstrong around, hes been one of the better relievers in the system the past few years and has looked decent in his small MLB sample size. Seems he's earned a longer shot at a spot.

In their past 13 games, Cleveland is 8-5, and their overall record is now 69-50 (.580).

In their past 13 games, Detroit is 5-8, and their overall record is now 64-57 (.529).

The Indians need to go 21-22 (.488) to reach the 90-72 mark.

The Tigers need to go 26-15 (.634) to reach the 90-72 mark.

With 73.5% of the season reporting, I'm going to call this race for the Tribe.
In their past 13 games, Cleveland is 7-6, and their overall record is 76-56 (.576).

In their past 12 games, Detroit is 8-4, and their overall record is 72-61 (.541).

The Indians need to go 14-16 (.467) to reach the 90-72 mark.

The Tigers need to go 18-11 (.621) to reach the 90-72 mark.

The actual games against Detroit are the ones im worried about. I know the Tribe have smacked the Tigers around this year. Can they hold that up when the heat is on though? I guess we will see.

Home stand continues for 7 more games. The reeling Marlins for 3. Then 4 against the Astros who currently are 1 game out of the wildcard and have won 8 of their last 10. 5-2 would be cool
