YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

Sweet, merciful Xenu. You invoked the holy name of Jesse effin' Levis.

It makes me a lot happier about these bums we have now, thinking of those good old days.

Having said that, I'm presuming Gimenez catches Oil Can Bauer tonight, then hopefully at least he can do Sunday afternoon and let Gomes get an extra day to get his head together. I'm sure he needs to heal but, dude is just lost up there, so, maybe he can have some not do too much except rest up and get in the cage a little. On the list of, "Can we expect this former stiff to still kick ass all year" the flip side of that is we need contributions from Gomes and Brantley. (Kipnis was on this list till about 2 weeks ago for a "meh, just ok" season so far but, he was raking during the streak)

Incidentally, Jerry Browne represents one of the first truly hurtful moments of my Tribe fandom. He was a part of the trade that sent my favorite player at the time, Julio Franco, out of town. One of the original fire sale victims of Tribe-o-nomics. That started a groundswell of the stars of my formative years being shipped out before they walked in FA...Butler, Franco, Hall, Joe Carter (though this one did net two future favorites--Sandy and Baerga), Candiotti...

Well, the nice thing about Julio is, he'll always come back home. (No matter what team you are, or when)

Shit... they might pick him up off waivers in August, who the fuck knows?

He was abnormally large for a backstop. 6'5 or 6'6, IIRC. Had the power of Alvaro Espinoza, though.

Fucking Mike Rouse. Held on to a roster spot until August, I believe, in 2007 while sporting a <.120 BA. I cursed his existence everyday.

The legendary 2007 stat line of Mike Rouse

47 Games played. .119 AVG/.200 OBP/.134 SLG 8hits/20strikeouts. 1 extra base hit in 76 plate appearances

But everyone can take heart, because no matter how bad you sucked...you were not JR Phillips. My man hit a robust .195 in the go-go roid era of 1995. When he hit .163 the next year, he was on the way to Bantha fodder. His numbers:

180 Ks, 184 hits + walks + runs, a robust .188 career average
