YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

Gotta love how Naquins "reward" for hitting .315 was a demotion in favor of a gas can whos gotten lit up early and often.
While I agree with you, the Indians really did not had anyone else to send down. It is too bad that Uribe(insert goat) is out of options along with Chiz. If the latter could hit a little more. Maybe someone would take him in a trade. However, every time I start talking bad about one of the older guys these to get a hit…see Byrd.

Sending NyQuil down was the smart move. Only other real outfield depth at AAA is Colin Cowslip and Joey Butler, neither of whom can barely hit his weight.

I do not quite understand this. I did not know that the major-league team was supposed to stock their minor-league affiliate. They could try promoting Zimmer to Columbus.not Cleveland.

Not a matter of stocking Cbus; it's about having somebody at Cbus who can play in CLE when needed. Even if Zimmer is ready to play AAA (and he's barely been at AA), I've not read anything that suggests he will be in ML this year for more than a brief call up in Sept. If the Tribe didn't send NyQuil down now, they would have had to DFL somebody else--most likely Chisenhall, Byrd or Davis. That player would then be gone. When the next OF injury hits, about the only option would be Cowslip.

Sending NyQuil to Cbus keeps another option available. If Chisenhall, Byrd or Davis play like an Indian (i.e., totally suck), they can still DFA 'em later. Also, remember that NyQuil's BA looks really good, but at least part of the reason that's true is because Tito really selected when he played to avoid having him hit left handed pitchers and the power he showed in AZ in March totally disappeared in the regular season. This batting order needs what limited power it has.

Bauer with 7 shutout innings....apocalypse is nigh.

To my untrained eye, Bauer is much improved since spending some time in the pen. His facial expressions suggest that he's more focused and not getting so bothered by ball/strike calls or fielding mistakes behind him. He's also working a lot faster with runners on--used to go into Hargrove Rain Delay Mode with runner at first.

Still shakes off about 3 times per pitch, or is that now just a mannerism? Sometimes it looks like the C is only putting down one sign, but Bauer is shaking it off.

Now about the apocalypse thing, call me if this team gets more than 5 games over .500!

Yeah, when Bauer is bad, its real bad. Last night he was really good. I missed the first couple innings but I don't remember anyone hitting the ball hard. Valbuenas double was him just fighting one off and it finding some room up the LF line. Honestly, if he can give you 7 innings, and keep you in games consistently... And somehow go .500.. It's a win.

bauer will get a chance to unseat gas can anderson in the rotation once carrasco comes back if he keeps pitching well. i think he's figured that out. now, whether or not he can continue to do this consistently is another matter.

Oh, he can get on rolls, so if he can at least toll till carrasco ngets back that would be huge. Really doing a nice job with the 4 seam and cutter yesterday. 6th and 7th threw in a heavy dose of change (and throwing it for strikes... The hitters had no idea what to do with it.)
