YSU has had a nice season but they're in over their heads today. I've lost track of how many plays over 10 yards ASU has made, and they just scored again.
YSU cannot stop ASU's running game. ASU is getting at least 8 yards each carry, and is driving the ball down the field at will. Hopefully YSU will make a halftime adjustment, but it's going to be difficult to come back from a 28-7 deficit on the road.
Youngstown State is getting absolutely fucking destroyed. App St is gashing YSU's defense at will. Their fourth TD drive was 3 plays covering about 70 yards. Play 1: 20+ yard screen pass, where half of YSU's defenders were knocked on their ass. Play 2: After a play where we stuffed the run for a 2-yard loss only to get tagged with a facemask penalty, they run the ball for another 20+ yards around the left end. Play 3: Gash up the middle nearly unfucking touched for a TD. When we do have the ball, open WRs drop 3rd-down passes that would be good for a first down. It's bad enough that App St is clearly the superior team talent-wise, YSU has to beat themselves in the head with a 2x4 by dropping sure catches, missing tackles, and committing stupid penalties.
That scrawny fucking QB is pissing me off...he's not all that great a passer, but every time we get pressure on him he runs for 15-20 yards, bowling over guys 50 pounds heavier then him. He's like a black scarecrow on crack...
YSU's offense is moving the ball pretty impressively on this drive and has done so generally in the second quarter. Their "O" did not show up in the first quarter, though. Their "D" HAS to improve in the second half.
Nice TD drive for the Pens makes it 28-14 and it's still not halftime.
If they can figure something out on defense they could have a shot but it's going to take quite a turnaround as they've been dominated on that side of the ball.
Mili, I said that guy was scary quick. YSU is still in it though, from experience I can tell you they aren't nearly as good offensively if you can keep them off the field for a while. Granted, they are very good.
It would have been a lot closer if they would have scored on the 4th and goal after the fumbled punt return by App St........and we would have had good field position if the 4 guys didn't jump offsides on a 4th and 4 w/ App. St. punting...And definately getting a field goal instead of a touchdown took a little wind out of them.....if they would have scored on one or two of those possessions it would be a completely different story...
It would be a closer game but even with all of those "ifs" YSU hasn't shown they could stop this offense at any time today. YSU's weak spot was their defense, and in the playoffs your weaknesses get exploited by good teams. That's what happened today.
