  • Yahoo totally redesigned their mail layout about 4-6 weeks ago, and ever since, it runs like absolute crap. It's painfully slow to load, doesn't load at all probably 1 out of 3 times, and I've found emails I sent still sitting in my "drafts" folder multiple times. I've tried it in multiple browsers (Chrome, Safari, FireFox), and same issues in each. Multiple computers too. The new interface is cluttered and not user friendly...for me anyway. So, I'm done with them. I've had the same yahoo account for 14 years, but I fecking HATE it now. Reading online, it appears I'm not alone.

So, looking for recommendations for a nice, easy, simple email provider. What do you use and are you happy with it?

I haven't had issues on my PC, but it doesn't work well on my phone. My phone actually has rebooted a couple times while I was waiting on my email to load. I actually thought it was just me and my degenerate phone, but it only does it with yahoo mail. *shrugs*

I actually rarely check any of my email accounts anymore, but I've always used Gmail more than any other provider ever since it launched. It is easy, the customization and power features are great when I choose to use them.
Yahoo is trying to copy gmail's format. Their new CEO is a former Google executive. All of that nonsense works for some, but what I liked about yahoo was how simple, fast, and user friendly it was. That's all gone now, and it's essentially gmail-lite. On top of the unwanted change that was forced on their users, they rolled it out with no notice, riddled with bugs. Fuck that, I don't want that. Time to find someone else.

It's totally useless on my phone and iPad. I literally don't even bother with it on either anymore.

Yeah, pretty much don't use it at work or on my phone. To be honest GMail works the best on my Android phone....go figure...and anymore, I just send all of my important shit (notifications, bills, etc.) to my Comcast address.

Windows Live is actually very good. I've had a Hotmail account since nearly the beginning, and while I've used a bunch of services over time, I always wind up forwarding everything there. Gmail seems to like deciding things for you - hey, look, we moved half your stuff to these other new tabs today! - and I much prefer to set it up the way I want it and have it stay that way.

I've used Gmail since it began and still use it as my primary email. Yeah, Google has a tendency to change things without any notice, but at least the option is there to change it back.....if you can find it the settings (hated the tabs thing). Had Hotmail and Yahoo ever since I had my first PC but pretty much just use them for stuff I know I'm going to get a lot of spam from. I don't like the new version of Yahoo mail, their newly designed home page( I used My Yahoo for years because I could configure what it contained) or any of it anymore.

It hasn't changed at all on my phone as far as I can tell. If it does, it will be a good excuse to create a new account somewhere and pick a grown-up name this time. It's kinda shitty to either tell a potential employer that I don't have email, or even worse, giving them my email.

I switched all my Web services to Namecheap a year ago and I love it. Had used Network Solutions exclusively for 20 years (ran my own email server from my home), but their auto-renewal/auto-bill policy changes last year turned me off. I've never been a fan of free Webmail services -- you get what you pay for.

Namecheap is super reliable. E-mail only accounts are $2.99/year and use Open-Xchange.
