Steroids are being investigated as a possible factor in the double murder suicide. Prescription drugs and steroids were found in the home. Complete autopsy reports are expected this morning, toxicology reports might be several more weeks. WWE confirms that Benoit tested negative during their last drug check of him on April 10th this year. WWE's most recent press release on the matter tries to steer away from notions that ?roid rage caused the deaths. Needle marks were found in the arm of Daniel. Some have said that the Benoits were giving the child human growth hormone as they believed him to be undersized. The case is being treated as a double murder suicide with no other suspects. WWE is reported to have information relating to the case and has been asked not to reveal this to the general public. No suicide note was found, but Benoit sent several text messages early Sunday morning stating his address with one also citing that the garage side door was open and his dogs were in the enclosed pool area. Two of these messages were sent to Chavo Guerrero. Nancy and Daniel were both found with a bible near their bodies. Nancy had her feet and hands bound. Her body was wrapped in a towel. Some blood was found under her head. Continued...

Like you give a 7 year old a growth hormone just because he is small.

1. You are absolutely right, he made the decision to use them, no one put a gun to his head and made him use them. The blame is squarely on him, I made that clear earlier in this thread when another posted tried making excuses for him.

2. I agree that they do have better things to do, but I think there needs to be some oversight of making changes to how Pro Wrestling does business and how it apparently allows drug abuse. It just really bothers me in an industry that caters to kids. I just really see this snowballing because of the tragic nature of this story and the discovery of steroids in the home. If there is a better, workable solution for making the necessary changes to this industry other than our government, than I will be all for it.

Well... first... as to jwinslows comment... as to this being a sport... it isn't. (Not that he's mincing words here or anything) but... (And I'm not giving "real" sports a pass either) the primary... or at least 50% of the purpose for performance enhancing substances in wrestling is to make them look like badasses... its an essential part of the schtick. So its a different problem than baseball.... its not cheating in the competitive sense.

So... to me... its really no different than Supermodels starving/purging themselves or whatever the hell other bad things pretty people do to themselves to look pretty... and continues the perpetuation of unrealistic images...

At any rate... the workable solution for kids to not have this influence on them is for them not to watch it...

Now... I don't think wrestling is the devil or anything... I really couldn't care less... its a soap opera to me... if people want to watch if they enjoy it, I don't care... but... kids need to understand that not everyone can be built like the Rock or a Barbie Doll... and as long as these guys get paid to look invincible they are going to by whatever means available to them.

Do you believe steroids aren't a problem in most sports? (esp w/ no test for HGH) It may be a bit more noticeable in wrestling, but the amount of athletes affected/damaged (both in the pro ranks, and the kids aspiring to join them) is far less than football, etc.

I agree it's a problem, i just don't know that congress is the way to fix it.

I do think it is a problem in most sports and like I said, I am definitely open to other options if someone comes up with one.

Every time I see stories on this slime ball it makes me ill. I have a son who is 7 and I just can not even imagine... ugghhh...

One thing I do not get is all the reference to steroids. Steroids do not cause people to kill people...There are hundreds of thousands of people who take steroids, Growth Hormones, ProHormones, and other designer steroids that do not kill people or go on uncontrollable rages. There are studies that show steroids can intensify existing feelings like depression, anger, etc.

The fact is the douche bag killed his wife and kid and people passing it off that it was because of roids are ignorant and refuse to accept the fact that he is just a douche bag murderer!

I said it before and I will say it again, he is a piece of shit and I hope he has a special place in Hell right now. This extra info on the needle marks on the child just continue to make it worse. Truly sickening.

If this part is true from what this lady is saying then it would explain the HGH in the house, as the WWE has shown that Benoit tested clean as recently as April. so that would throw out much of a roid rage theroy and mean that he just thought out and killed his family one by one.

News1130 - ALL NEWS RADIO - Delta woman says wrestler Chris Benoit had a son with Fragile X syndrome

DELTA (NEWS1130) - We may never know the reasons behind Chris Benoit's decision to take the life of his wife, young son and himself. However, a Delta woman, who was in contact with the Canadian wrestler a few years ago, said she might have some insight into the family. Pam Winthrope said Benoit's son had a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome. Winthrope said she has experienced the condition first hand and knows how it can tear a family apart.
Fragile X syndrome is an inherited mental impairment.

WWE has posted a time line of everything that they knew. Rather interesting to say the least.

WWE/Benoit timeline
WWE: Inside WWE > News > WWE/Benoit Timeline
from the link:
The decision to cancel the live event scheduled in Corpus Christi that night was made between 4 and 5 p.m. In keeping with company policy, and with limited knowledge regarding facts of the case, WWE choose to air a memorial dedicated to the career of Chris Benoit. As facts emerged surrounding the case, all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com thanks to a single email from somebody calling himself Ginn4Heisman. Thanks Mr. Ginn4Heisman, whoever you are!

The "roid rage" excuses became null and void as soon as the information that his wife was found with her hands and feet bound came to light...not to mention the fact that it has been reported that they were killed hours (or maybe even) a day apart with friggin' bibles layed next to them. I can't even begin to imagine what could go through a man's mind to do something like this. It's just sickening. The bizarre part of the whole story is how he took so much pride in his performances and commanded such respect, yet would turn around and do such an unspeakable act that would ruin everything he strived for. Truly frightening. This guy was a fucking fan favorite, a "good guy" in wrestling. Egads. If I owned any stock in WWE, I'd be dumping it, post haste. There is a major shit-storm a brewin'.

i understand, so let me explain. Heres a professional wrestler, straight muscle.. in a domestic dispute with a woman.. sure the intentions aren't great but maybe his goal was not to kill her.. just because someone beats the shit out their wife dosent mean he was trying to end her life.. while its disgusting and wrong, thats what i was trying to say. Maybe, a big fuckin maybe, IF his "friend" was telling the truth, that would be one likely scenario. Its not what I believe happened.. but IF it were a domestic dispute gone wrong, I can see it being plausible due to his size and strength and getting carried away due to roids, anger, bad sex life.. whatever, mainly strength.

Yes, but from someone who has lived with another "angry" person who got on roids.. it definatley changes people that it does effect. While the blame cannot be on roids, and i agree with you, let me tell you from first hand experience, if you've got anger problems and you combine them with steriods.. you really run into problems. I'm glad he was on my side.. shit is scary

Murder is murder... and as NF said, if the info about her being bound is correct, it didn't happen the way you describe anyway.
