WTF is wrong with television?

They failed to recognize that Top Gear UK was as much about the personalities as it was the cars. The US version has uninteresting hosts and is superficial in terms of car tech. As a "car guy" I find it pretty stereotypical. It's about as informative as a Maxim article-which is probably their targeted demographic.

The British version is awesome, the US version is not close to the british version, but there have been some funny segments.

As fun as it is to bash TV and as f'd up as networks can be....I'll happily argue that the best shows on TV are better than at any time in history.

Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Burn Notice, The Walking Dead, Justified, Chuck, Fringe, Mad Men...

I think the development of hour drama's for basic cable is one of the best things to happen to TV and almost cancels out what reality TV has done to the big 4. A show like Mad Men could never survive on broadcast tv (take note Playboy Club and Pan Am), but it can win all kinds of awards on AMC, which seems to be what they care about. The best non-premium channels for original programming these days are AMC, USA, TNT, and FX. I would guess that well over half of the shows that I watch are on basic or premium cable.
