LSUs QB situation has been a dumpster fire the past 4/5 years.....you can only win so much just relying on defense and running the ball, have to make some throws eventually.

followed by an announcement to announce the announcement of said secret signing...Seriously tho, how often does it work out for the school the player is already committed to when they do this kind of stuff?

It happens pretty often. Ezekiel Elliott is a recent example.

Feels like Gibson is just trying to build up a little bit of suspense and I think he sticks with the Buckeyes after making everyone sweat a little bit.

Not a recruit per se, but also see Cardale Jones. Always makes me nervous to see an "announcement" though for sure.
