WR Terry McLaurin (Pro Bowl, Washington Commanders)

Terry would be the fourth highest scoring athlete of 2012 (Mitchell 154.47, Altee Tenpenny 144.99, Derrick Henry 144.60).

The highest in 2008 was a 132.40
Reggie Bush scored a 93.38 in 2006

I imagine something must have changed with the scoring or number of categories, because while clearly Terry and Mitchell are freak athletes, there is no way they are that much more of freak athletes than Reggie Bush was in 2006. I.e 154.47, and 141, vs. 93.38

Bush only had scores for 3 of the 5 skills as his score was calculated using available stats from his Pro Day (after three years in SC's S&C program). USC's '06 Pro Day was when Nike "launched" SPARQ 2.0, so high school athletes at elite camps weren't tested until later that summer.

I doubt the players in 2012-2013 are really much different than those of 2008.

I think it's really just a matter of familiarity & having more time to train for the event.

The way the original article read Nike just kinda sprung SPARQ on USC's pro-day. Did Reggie Bush have any idea of what a Power Ball even was; let alone know the best technique for chucking it?

Thanks for finding that.

I like Terry's athleticism but two things really stood out to me when watching him. First he appears to be an intense competitor who will push himself to be great and finally he is already a very articulate spokesman for The Ohio State University. This young man has a bright future ahead of him.

There are a lot of 6'0 200 lb speed demons at WR, DB, RB. There are very few at LB, let alone 6'4" 220.
