WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Cam may have caused Auburn to be guilty of a major violation (I think he knew of hid dad's selling him, but I do not have hold up in court type proof at this time).

Pryor's actions in tat-gate led to Tress being guilty of a major violation - no "may" involved. Had tatgate not happened, none of the bad stuff that is happening to Tress right now would be happening (yeah, Tress had choices too, but Pryor and co. created the need for a choice).

I don't think TP is the devil. I don't naively think Cam is clean. But as I sit typing this, only one qb's actions has - right now - led to a major violation being assessed to his program/coach. That person is not Cam.

For now anyway. I know this bugs you Kyle, but that is the current factual situation. I can agree with some of your speculation, but that is not fact. Right now tOSU has a violation that is related to TP's actions. Right now Auburn does not. So since the original questions had to do with who had the worst/best character, I said it is too soon to tell.

Nothing about that is my guess how it will work out in the future. So I say it is too soon to tell. Sorry if that bugs you.

Throw the names and NCAA out of it ...Person A sold his own things to get money for tatoos.. Player B stole to get things..who is more moral A or B.. For what its worth they both have made mistakes..but lets wait till its over it took years for what everyone knew about Bush to come out..so Newton isn't out of the woods yet..

[gator] Cam was trying to return the laptop to its owner by throwing it out of his window directly into their living room, but his arm wasn't strong enough. [/fullofshit]

question for you that requires a one word answer (yes or no)....

Regardless of how I worded the character issues between the two players, would you consider Cam Newton to be of higher character than Terrelle Pryor based on the general knowldege we have of these two players history?

Simple question it seems...I'm sure Gator could answer it with less than an essay full of...ah shit...never mind....

I do not think we have "general knowledge" sufficient to make even an educated guess. We only have ten tons of spin/s*** to sift through, all of it directed by individuals and entities with important axes to grind, both for and against. And, unless they both have a shared past with similar role models and ethics training - and both faced virtually identical challenges and temptations in similar circumstances - how either one of them individually reacted to a situation is not much guidance as to how the other would have responded if placed in an identical position.

Gotcha. Not enough evidence either way to determine...wait...what the fuck?

I don't think the point of this discusion is "who caused the biggest violation". It is who do you think has fewer character "red flags" as it relates to their future in the NFL. At least that was my intent of my original post a few pages back that both you and Kyle were responding to.

You can't just casually throw the NCAA out of this.

Selling that kind of stuff is pretty obviously not allowed for a reason. If you can't see it, you're (not you, specifically - talking to lots of people here) being a homer.

Comparing these two guys is going to happen enough next year.. no need to do it right now. We all know who we like and want to succeed more.

Player "B" was found to have bought a "hot" laptop at a reduced price....and to have obstructed justice by trying to throw it out the window - because he is an idiot. He was not found to have "stole" anything.

And you can tweak the definition every which way . "Person A sold his player memorabilia despite knowing that it was a violation, and hid that fact even after the the AJ Green news was spread all over the media!"

Again, TP ain't the debbil. Cam ain't a Saint. But having to weigh in on "who has the better character" is hardly a clear winner type of deal. If Tress is given a year off by the NCAA (regardless of how unlikely you think that may be, and not hoping it happens) I imagine you would start to look at TP's involvement differently.

All of the stuff I hear about Cam at UF is pretty much about what a spoiled selfish kid he was. But all of his grades/cheating rumors are just that - rumors. So I don't know if I can use that to say Cam is worse than TP.

If I assume that all of the rumors are true, then I would agree with you that TP has been far less of a problem than cam

I've heard rumors about OSU players throughout my time on the main campus.

Surely, those aren't true, though. CAM IS LYING, CHEATING SCUM THOUGH!

And this isn't me railing against Pryor. I like him as a QB and he's been cool to me off the field. I'm rooting for him. I don't like Cam at all. But trying to make one side look better than the other is pointless, especially when based on rumors (no matter how legitimate or not they seem to be).

Oh. In that case, TP has less and Cam has far more to worry about.

I did not take the question the way you just phrased it. Sorry.

Phrased that way, Cam would be a bigger risk from a character standpoint.

He's a great and memorable Buckeye but he hasn't had the "best career of any QB" at tOSU? I guess "best career" is debatable but his stats, right now, before playing his last 8 games at tOSU are among the best all time at tOSU.

He has the opportunity to be the first Buckeye QB to start and win 4 games against tsun...I'm not sure but, maybe even the first QB to do that in the history of The Game. Add to that a potential 3-1 bowl record...pretty hard to top. Krenzel was 2-1 in The Game & Bowls with a NC the cherry on top. Compared to all the other QBs in tOSU History? overall offensive stats? Total pass yards, TDs, Rushing yards etc...TP is at or near the top.

Come on now....you know you can't use stats to back up talk....

Agreed!!!!!! Someone has taken philosophy i see!! Good argument. I am taking ethics right now. What Pryor has done was not morally wrong. If it is true that cam has cheated and stolen, both offenses are morally wrong.

He broke a major rule, not sure how that can be considered moral.
