Going back and reading through this thread was incredible...

...to see where He, we the fans, and the rest of college football is today...man, good stuff!

I got to see quite a bit of film of Pryor...and the resemblance to Vince Young is uncanny. He is that good...and needs that much work to become more of a QB and less of an ATHLETE...same as Vince did when he was coming into college in '02.

THEN :osu: is the answer. Troy Smith improvement from his freshman year to his heisman/senior year has to be the only proof he would need. He can follow greatness with his.

Vince Young red-shirted, even though I'm sure he could have helped Texas somewhere else with his athletic ability.

Bottom line, if he wants to play quarterback, he'll need to red-shirt unless he can somehow beat 3 upperclassmen, at least one of whom having starting experience.

That being said, once he gets the Troy Smith treatment from the staff and learns what he's doing, look out...

If Boeckman wins the starting job, then Pryor will only have to wait one year for a shot at starting. While it would be tough, he'd still have a legitimate shot.

Only negatives I can see now are, he still needs to throw the ball away when there's no hope and he needs to follow through on handoffs to perfect the playaction. He still stops as soon as he hands the ball off.

Some more work on passing and fix those two issues, and he will be unstoppable as a QB.

I believe that is why we see a counter ran as a play action. TP fakes the handoff and follows a lead blocker to the opposite side. Having him run a play like that gets him in a habit of rolling away from the handoff. It also gives the coaches a pint of reference for him to look at and build into his muscle memory.

Getting better at attacking the middle of the field will make him unstoppable.

Craig Krenzel was 24-3 as a starter

Rex Kern was 27-2 (if he started all of the games for the super sophs, and given that he had some injury problems, I am not sure if he did or not)

Troy Smith was 26-3 as a starter (not counting the Texas game is 2005 because technically he didn't start)

Art Schlichter was 36-11-1 (if he started every game from '78-81, which I think he did)

I think all of these numbers are correct, but I am not 100%

Not knocking Pryor, or any other QB, but measuring them by wins is like measuring MLB pitchers by wins. Why does the QB get credit for a good defense?

Yeah, I agree with you. The QB isn't the only person on the field that lets a team win.

But like a pitcher in the majors, either player is the most important in creating a win. If a pitcher throws a CG shut-out the team is going to win and a pitchers job should be rated on how many runs his team is scoring. Say the team always scores 3 runs every game then it is up to the pitcher to only allow two runs every game to be successful. QB is a little different and kind of works in the opposite manner.

If the QB leads the offense to a score every possession and doesn't turn the ball over then all the defense has to do is make one drive ending play to win. Although a QB /P wins should always be accompanied by QB rating(or other stat like comp %)/ERA. Still a team will rarely win with a qb that cant score and isnt successful in running the offense.

Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor on preparing for next year, being a role model

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor said Sunday afternoon that his injured left knee continues to bother him.

Before the Rose Bowl, Pryor revealed for the first time that he had suffered what he said was a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and 23 days after the Rose Bowl, the pain remains.

"It's hurting, you know," Pryor said in his first interview since the Rose Bowl while serving as a honorary captain for Ohio State's wrestling team. "Now that the season's over, it's hurting. I've got to get it back together. Every day it hurts. It gives out once in a while."

Pryor said he plans to have a doctor check the knee again soon, but he doesn't believe surgery is an option that would help the injury. He said former Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins played with a similar injury for several seasons. But he made it clearer than ever how much the knee affected his play since he was tackled on the sideline against New Mexico State on Oct. 31.

"Every time I dropped back, every time I sprinted, every time I ran, it was just pain," Pryor said. "As I was running, you would think adrenaline would kick in. I took shots and three types of horse pills, and none of it worked."
